My Top 5 Toners for Oily Skin

My Top 5 Toners for Oily Skin

Continuing our series with oily skin toners. The products in this list are mostly drugstore prices. You can find something that will fit your budget for sure. Range is from 85 pesos to 895 pesos. Skin care doesn’t have to be expensive. You just have to find the perfect match for your skin.

T.N. Dickinson’s Witch Hazel

I havent posted a full review on this yet. But I like it so much that it became the top 1. It’s pure witch hazel, no other additional ingredients. According to webMD: “Witch hazel leaf extract, bark extract, and witch hazel water are used as astringents to tighten the skin. They are also included in some medications to give those products the ability to slow down or stop bleeding. Those medications are used for treating insect bites, stings, teething, hemorrhoids, itching, irritations, and minor pain.” It helps to control my breakouts. No sting, non drying and no sticky film. I recommend it for all skin types. 59ml bottle is priced at 85 pesos. There’s a huge bottle but I forgot to check the price. Both sizes are vailable at Healthy Options branches.

Etude House Wonder Pore Freshner

I have bought this twice. It claims to maintain skin’s PH balance. I observed that it’s not drying although it has alcohol. It won’t leave film. It didnt control breakouts but I like how my skin feels so clean after this step. Others are using this as facial mist. Just put some in a spray bottle. Its pore minimizing only lasts for a few minutes up to an hour for me. I usually get the 250ml and it lasts for 4 to 5 months. You can get this at Etude House branches. 250ml for 548 pesos while 500ml is at 898 pesos.

Celeteque Hydration Alcohol Free Toner

I forgot how many times I’ve finished up a bottle of this. This was my go-to toner when I still had moderate breakouts. I also buy this when I’m on a tight budget. Haha! It also has witch hazel. It feels like it gives off a film. Don’t worry it will only last for a few seconds. It feels like I dont have to apply moisturizer anymore after this. But I still do anyway just to be sure. You can get it at supermarkets, drugstores and department stores. 65 ml for 80 pesos and 120 ml is at 129 pesos

Lush Tea Tree Water Toner

You guys know I’m a lushie. This toner is made of Tea Tree Water, Grapefruit Water, Juniperberry Water. It’s alcohol free as well. It wont provide hydration alone and no film. So I like to spray it on my face first and then spray again on a cotton ball. It is really mattifying. It controls oil and my makeup holds longer when I use this toner. Others are using it as a setting spray. You can get this at Lush stores in Metro Manila. Php 325 for 100ml & Php 625 for 250ml.

The Body Shop Tea Tree Skin Clearing Toner

I got a bottle when it was on sale. It has tea tree scent which I love. I find it relaxing. It also controlled my breakouts. You have to shake it first because there’s powder at the bottom. That powder helps in mattifying skin. I recommend trying their tea tree line when they’re on BOGO (Buy One Get One) sale. It usually happens in Christmas season. You can get this at The Body Shop branches & kiosks. 250ml for 650 pesos

Review: Celeteque Hydration Facial Wash

Review: Celeteque Hydration Facial Wash

Going back to reviewing this weekend. A member of a facebook group asked for reviews on Celeteque Hydration Facial Wash. Most of the commenters liked it and some even said it’s their holy grail. Syempre I had to try it out.

My sister bought a tube when she ran out of her cleanser. It’s my chance to use it! Haha! Honestly I was scared just like how I would normally feel when using a new product. But I was hoping it will be okay since I love their Hydration Toner. That’s one of my favorite toners ever. I tried this cleanser for 1 to 2 weeks. Just to see if there’s any harsh reaction or if my skin changes.

CÉLETEQUE DermoScience™ Hydration Facial Wash has Natural Moisturizing Factor (NMF) that helps restore the skin’s proper moisture balance. It also has mild cleansing agents that effectively clean without drying the skin.

-Available in department stores and supermarkets
-Affordable; 75 pesos for 60ml, 118 pesos for 100ml, 270 pesos for 250ml
-No irritations and breakouts
-Little goes a long way
-Skin feels soft and bouncy

-Leaves a film
-Has sodium laureth sulfate & other possible irritants

It’s always important to check the ingredients list. It says on the packaging that it’s non comedogenic. It’s easy for brands to claim their products “non comedogenic”. The 2nd ingredient is sodium laureth sulfate (SLES), a mild comedogenic cleansing ingredient that creates lather/bubbles. It’s not as harsh as sodium lauryl sulfate. I’m not saying you should freak out when you see them on the label. Of course, it will depend on your sensitivity. Everyone’s skin is unique. You have to try it out and see for yourself.

Here’s CosDNA analysis
“With Natural Moisturizing Factor”, I have to agree at some point. My skin did not feel dry inside. Glycerin is the safest out of all moisturizers in this product. It also has chamomile, a favorite of mine for calming.  I just dont like that SLES leaves film on the surface. That’s what I’ve experienced from other products with it. The film is removed with toner so be sure to do that next step.

What I like about this is it’s non drying, not because of the film. This cleanser makes my skin soft and bouncy. It’s the same effect when I used Mizon Snail Cream before. Good thing it did not cause irritation and breakouts. It’s affordable and available in 3 sizes that fit in every budget. Buy a small one first if you’re planning to test it. Overall, I still think it’s a decent cleanser if you dont have problematic skin.

Massive Empties for 2015 + Announcement

I dont know why I still keep the packagings and boxes even if I used them up already. Is it just me?

Some empties are not included in the photo but I’ve finished them this year. As usual, they are categorized. This is also a recap of my previous reviews. I will link all my reviews so you can check them out.

I might even have international giveaways. Who knows? 🙂

Wish List: Makeup Edition

Wish List: Makeup Edition

I browsed my wish list and most of the products are skin care. I guess I’m obsessed. I have other items on my list aside from that. I suck at many things including makeup. I depend on bloggers and youtubers especially for concealers. I like to see full coverage routine on people who have acne prone skin. They justify if a product gives medium to full coverage.😊

Enough of the ramblings, let’s start~

BB Cream

HOLIKA HOLIKA Aqua Petit Jelly BB Cream – approx. P680
This doesn’t provide coverage. I’m planning to use this as my base since it’s feels light on the skin. BB cream gives dewy and glowing look even if it has matte finish. I need it underneath my concealer & foundation to have hint of glow. I have oily skin so I don’t like to overdo it.

CELETEQUE Brightening Multi-Benefit BB Cream – P325
I love Celeteque’s alcohol-free toner. I think it wouldn’t hurt to try their bb cream. It’s very affordable. I think you can get this at all department stores. It’s only in one shade though. I hope it’ll suit my skin tone.

Powder Foundation

ELLANA MINERALS Radiant Concealer & Foundation – P499
I’ve never tried mineral makeup before. Ellana is a local brand. It sounds promising because of its dual function. I’m assuming that it will add more coverage. This is specifically for warm tone with dark spots/blemishes. Each tub weighs 6g. It’s quite expensive for me but I’m trying to look for makeup with few ingredients.

Pot/cream concealers usually give medium to full coverage while liquid & stick concealer usually give light to medium coverage.

NYX Concealer Jar – P360
I prefer to use cream/pot concealers because I need medium to full coverage for my dark spots. A blogger said this can be a dupe for MAC’s concealer aside from my all time favorite Tony Moly pot concealer.

KRYOLAN Dermacolor Camouflage Creme Trio Set – $23.30
Em Ford (mypaleskin on youtube) used this a lot in her videos when she still had breakouts. I’m surprised that it really covers her blemishes. This is also Wayne Goss’ best concealer for 2015. I wanted to get the full size pot but I doubt I’ll get my perfect shade. It’s freaking expensive if I get 2 pots. I thought a palette is great so I can mix colors to get my shade. Or I could just get the refills and look for a container. The refill is $5. 😛

COLLECTION Lasting Perfection Concealer – P299
Em Ford also used this a lot in her videos before she discovered Kryolan. It’s very affordable and the coverage is good too. I’ve seen a blogger’s swatch and it covers her dark spots. That convinced me.

INGLOT Cream Concealer – P895
I passed by Inglot’s shop before. I’ve never heard of it. I searched the brand and looked for their concealers. I found a swatch where this concealer can almost cover a tattoo. It’s 10ml for 895 pesos. I think it’s a good deal. They have wide shade selection to choose from.

PINK SUGAR Our Lil’ Secret Concealer – P299
Another local brand and I assume it’s promising. A lot of pinay bloggers are raving about this so it must be really good. One blogger said it sets like cement…. Cement, sounds good to my oily skin. I have to try it at their counter to know if I wont have a hard time applying it.

I dont think too much about lips and brows. I can use anything for them. This wish list is full of face products. I focus on coverage because I have A LOT of dark spots. I wish I could go out without makeup but unfortunately I can’t. I would go out bare faced if our society isn’t messed up.

July – September 2015 Haul

July – September 2015 Haul

Hey everyone. I’ve combined all the products that I got from the past months. We’re in the “ber” months already. Christmas season here in the Philippines starts in September. Yes, we have 4 months of celebration.😂 Malls are getting crowded again so I went shopping early. I know stores will have their christmas sale in the next few months but these products are rarely on sale. No need to wait for that.

Most of these are my needs. I’ve already used up some of them so they’re not included in the photo. Im controlling myself from doing massive hauls. Im slowly getting there.😅 anyway, just click on the photo to zoom in.😊 All sporsored items are marked with “***

Updated Review: Celeteque Hydration Alcohol-Free Toner

Updated Review: Celeteque Hydration Alcohol-Free Toner

I decided to do some updates on the reviews I’ve already posted. Years have passed and my skin is okay now compared before… So I want to give products another chance and share if there are any changes on my experience while using them.

Let’s start with this toner from Celeteque, a local skincare brand. I’ve used this on and off since 2012. Im using it until now. I was breaking out before and I expected too much that my first review wasnt so great. This is not for acne prone skin. I was unrealistic before. What was I thinking? 😂 😒 I chose this instead of the anti acne toner since my sensitive skin needs quick hydration right after my facial wash.

What is it:
CELETEQUE DermoScience™ Hydration Alcohol-Free Toner contains Witch Hazel Extract that helps soothe the skin while removing the last traces of stubborn dirt.

Water, PEG 6, Butylene Glycol, Glycerin, Panthenol, Polysorbate 20, DMDM Hydantoin, Iodopropynyl Butylcarbamate, Disodium EDTA, Sodium PCA, Hamamelis virginiana (Witch Hazel) Extract, Masking Agent

Review: Celeteque Make-Up Remover Cleansing Facial Wipes

Review: Celeteque Make-Up Remover Cleansing Facial Wipes

Happy Sunday! It’s time for another review. I think I’ve been buying a lot of cleansing tissues. Im gonna keep this review short and simple. 🙂

What is it?
CELETEQUE DermoScience™ Hydration Make-Up Remover Wipes gently removes make-up, excess sebum and dirt that may clog skin pores. It has Active Skin Hydrators that help boost skin’s level of moisture. It is convenient to use anytime anywhere.

Aqua (Water), Propylene Glycol, Sodium Coco-glucoside Tartrate, Phenoxyethanol, PEG-40 Hydrogenated Castor oil, Cetearyl Isononanoate, Polysorbate 20, Proprylparaben, Methylparaben, Centella asiatica (Centella) Extract, Secale cereale (Rye) Seed Extract, Prunus serrulata (Sakura) Flower Extract, Fragrance, Disodium Phosphate, Disodium EDTA, Cyclopentasiloxane, Dimethiconol, Steareth-2, Steareth-100, Laureth-4, Ethylhexylglycerin, Laureth-23

  • Available locally
  • Travel friendly
  • It does have moisturizing effect
  • Did not experience dryness or tightness after using
  • Removes heavy makeup IF you keep on wiping and if you use the back side too
  • Effectively removes light makeup

  • A bit expensive, Php 160 for 20 sheets. Maybe it’s because of the centella asiatica, rye seed extract and sakura flower
  • Experienced sting on the cheek bone area
  • A sheet can easily lose its moisture while you’re using it. Be sure to remove makeup asap.
  • Has strong fragrance and two types of paraben

Im not sure if Im the only one who experienced stinging. I have very sensitive skin and it’s mahapdi for me on some areas…. But it does its job. You can use this even if you feel like your skin is dirty especially while traveling. 🙂 This is an okay product for me. Have you tried this?

I’m going to post my haul on Saturday for this month. I dont want to purchase anymore this month. That way I could save up…. because if I’ll post it at the end of this month, I will surely find something and say “oh hey, I can include these in my haul” and the list will be longer. 😂

btw, Happy Fathers Day to all the dads… And moms out there! *you know what I mean* 🙂 ❤️
