Updated Skin Care Routine – May 2017

20 May

It took months to revamp my routine. Changing products should be one at a time. That’s the most important thing we should remember in cosmetics. Doing so will help you determine the culprit when you have irritations/breakouts. It’s confusing if you’ll use all the new products you’ve bought. The last time I updated my routine was in August 2016. I must say it changed a lot.

Skinlite & Mumuso Makeup Cleansing Tissues

I’m still using the same makeup remover. I prefer wipes because I’m a lazy person. They both do the job for me. They completely remove my everyday makeup (bb cream, concealer, lipstick and brow pencil). Note that I do not use eyeshadow, eyeliner, mascara, blush, bronzer, highlighter. Full review here & here.

Zenutrients Soothing Green Tea Glycerin Soap

My recent review was about this soap. It’s a maintenance soap. Green tea is good for calming and smells fresh. Ideal for sensitive skin and those who have mild to no breakouts. My 138 pesos was worth it. It’s very affordable. It doesnt melt easily. I’m also using this on the body depending on my mood. Full review here

Aztec Secret Healing Clay Mask

I dont even know when will I finish a tub of this. It’s HUGE! I havent even used 1/4 of it. It’s pure and effective for oily skin. I only use this twice a month because it’s too strong for me. It’s best rinsed with warm water. You can use mix it with plain water or apple cider vinegar if you do not have sensitive skin. Full review here

T.N. Dickinson’s Witch Hazel

This is probably my holy grail toner. It has one ingredient only. That’s 14% of alcohol. Gentle and effective enough to remove dirt. It’s just like water. No stickiness and film. It’s very affordable too. I think this 237ml is 270 pesos at Healthy Options branches. Full review here

The Ordinary Lactic Acid 10% + HA 2%

I gave in to the Youtube trend. I bought some products from The Ordinary. The brand caught my attention because of their ingredients and straight-to-the-point product names. We don’t need cheesy marketing names, right?☺ Lactic Acid 10% is first on my list. I used this for one week (every other day). I noticed superficial peeling. It’s been a month now and my skin is still peeling. I use this as spot treatment only. Mainly for dark spots and pimples. Full review coming soon!

The Ordinary Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1%

My second product from the brand is their Niacinamide serum. It’s ideal for brightening and for oily and acne prone skin. It has a very light consistency. I’m using this for 2 weeks now. Same with Lactic Acid 10%, it’s too early to tell its effects. But I’m liking it so far. Full review coming soon!

Organic Alley Argan Oil

This is the safest oil for oily skin. It’s doesnt block pores unlike other oils. Im using this at night. Mostly when I feel dehydrated. It makes my skin glowy. I use this daily under my eyes and on the cheek bones. It helps to smoothen out skin. I find it easier to apply makeup over this. Full review here

Beta-N Cream

What is Beta N? According to NetDoctor, “Betamethasone and neomycin cream is used in short courses to treat inflammatory skin conditions (like eczema, dermatitis, rashes) when milder corticosteroids have not been effective and when the condition is either already infected or likely to become infected.” This is our ride or die. If ever my contact dermatitis flares up, I apply this cream. It calms the skin even in one use. It’s very effective. I can’t live without it.

This is the best routine I’ve got so far. What’s your holy grail skin care? Please share them below so we can all check it out.😊

Updated Skin Care Routine – August 2016

4 Sep

It’s been 3 months since I shared my updated routine. I needed to change it up a bit because my skin got used to some products. Now, how do I introduce a new product in my routine? I give it 1 to 2 weeks. For example, cleanser. I try it out for 1 week. If it’s okay then I’ll add the new toner and so one. That way it’s easy for me to determine the culprit in case I have irritation or breakout. It’ll be difficult if you use all new ones at the same time. Just like in makeup.

Makeup remover

Skinlite Cleansing Tissue

image
Yup, I still prefer tissues over other makeup removers because I’m lazy. I also find that they remove makeup better. It feels refreshing while removing all makeup. I’m a full coverage freak. I use liquid foundation, concealer and powder foundation and it works fine. I still buy the same brand. It’s only 89 pesos (approx $2). It’s difficult to switch when I already found something cheap that works.

Cleanser

iWhite Whitening Vita Facial Wash

iWhite-Back-and-Front-Tube-3-Facial-Wash-Front

I needed to take a break from my favorite cleanser so my skin wont get used to it. That being said it will still be effective when I return to it and as usual I need to find a substitute for a couple of weeks or months. This is my first time to try iWhite Korea. So far it’s okay. Full review next week!!!

Mask

sheet masks

6567310095548416_grandeLush PH imports their products from Japan. A staff said Mask of Mag is usually available once a month or once every two months. I got tired of waiting for it to be back in stock. Sheet mask is always to the rescue when we need to pamper ourselves. We got these from Etude House. Not really a fan of sheet masks but these will do for now.

Toner

Klairs Supple Preparation Toner & Etude House Wonder Pore Freshner

PhotoGrid_1472965394381
I’m using two toners. Klairs when I want extra hydration or in the morning. Supple Preparation Toner minimizes the appearance of wrinkles on my forehead. I reach for Wonder Pore if I had a long sweaty day of commuting, exercising, on a hot weather or whenever I want extra cleansing.

Moisturizers

imagesFoodaholic Snail Soothing Gel
Feeling the magic of slime again. Snail slime is good for brightening, anti ageing and calming. Gel type moisturizer is light and nice for oily skin. I’m staying away from anti acne moisturizers because they make my pores look bigger.

Aquaphor and Hydrocortisone
I still use these whenever my dermatitis flares up. Aquaphor is my savior for reducing itch and redness. It also prevents flaking and wounds. Followed by Hydrocortisone after the skin has calmed down. There’s no cure for this. It’s sad that we have to deal with this forever. Oo, may forever pala! 😧

Spot Treatment

Klairs Midnight Blue Calming Cream

IMG_20160501_180915
Its purpose is spot treatment only. I like to apply it on spots that were left from acne. You know those red spots and sometimes they’re flakey. This is also good for moisturizing those. It smells great and feels relaxing. Click here for full review

I thought you have acne prone skin? I didnt see a zit zapper in this post.” I have hormonal acne but the main cause of my breakouts is stress. Stress = hormonal imbalance. I minimize that issue with relaxing/de-stressing at the end of the day. Everyday.

Updated Skin Care Routine – May 2016

27 May

Hello everybody! I updated my skin care routine because I had to. The weather seriously affected my skin. The temperature in Manila is usually up to 35 °C (92°F) and the heat index can go up to 40°C or 100 °F. As a result, I have sebbohreic dermatitis

My sister has dermatitis too. Her dermatologist prescribed cleanser and creams. She allowed me to use them too.

CLEANSERS:

Ceramide Cleanser
A skin with dermatitis lacks ceramide which is needed to moisturize skin’s layers. It’s a support to lessen dryness and crustiness. I’m thankful because my sister shared this. She got this in her dermatologist’s clinic at Makati Med.

Lush Fresh Farmacy
I use this when I’ve worn makeup on a long day. It makes me feel clean! Full review here

MASK:

Lush Mask of Magnaminty
The best face mask I’ve tried. I keep coming back to it although it’s always out of stock. I told the SA it’s so hard to get one and asked when it is usually available. She said it’s either every month or every two months. Full review here

TONER:

Etude House Wonder Pore Freshner
I’m on my 2nd bottle. It’s refreshing and doesnt dry out my skin. I still moisturize after because it has alcohol. That’s known for pore minimizing. It doesnt help with my pores though. Full review here

MOISTURIZERS:

Etude House AC Clinic Gel Lotion
I use this for the rest of my face. I’m on my 2nd bottle now. I couldnt find any dupe for it. It’s lightweight and hydrates my acne prone skin. Full review here

Clobetasol with Aquaphor Cream
This is for severe dermatitis flare ups. It’s applied twice a day on the affected areas for 3-5 days.

Hydrocortisone Cream
It’s applied when dermatitis flare ups are subsided/mild. It’s also applied twice a day on affected areas for 3-5 days. I’m using this as maintenance too.

Skin will look normal again once a flare up is gone. There is no cure for Dermatitis. All we can do is to control it by soothing and calming it. Extreme heat, sweat, health and intestine problems are some of the causes. Avoid everything that can trigger it because it’s really difficult to calm it down. It takes 3 to 7 days in our case. Foods/Drinks That Cause & Reduce My Breakouts

15 Nov

image

This is the continuation of my skincare routine. Everything listed in this post works best for me and all based on my experience. Im not saying that this will work for everyone. Some people are okay with sweets, salty food and dairy products.

Foods/Drinks that CAUSE my breakouts

  • Skipping breakfast and meals
Skipping meals especially breakfast will cause hormonal imbalance.
  • Sweets & salty food
I gave up sweets already. All candies, cupcakes, chocolates and etc. Aside from home-cooked salty foods, this includes fast food and processed food.
  • Dairy Products (cheese, milk and etc)
I ate pizza whenever I want to. But as soon as I avoided it, I saw improvements on my skin. I’ll get a cystic acne once I eat a slice of pizza & other dairy products.
  • Eggs
Eggs can cause blemishes for me. Egg is good for us but just to be sure, I don’t exceed one egg per day. We usually eat it for breakfast. Remember it’s not a tapsilog anymore without the egg.😉
  • Soft-drinks/sodas, artificial juices & sugary drinks
Have you seen all the soft drinks experiments on social media? Have you seen the amount of black sugar in it? Black sugar is the sweetest kind of sugar. Artificial juices have high sugar content too. Still included as sweets for me. Milk tea is a no-no for me. I’m glad I gave them all up. I’m always about to throw up whenever I see a bottle of those sugary drinks.
  • Alcoholic drinks
Alcohol will dehydrate the body. I breakout as a result of drinking it. I got a lot of whiteheads before especially on the chin area. I havent drank a single shot of alcohol for almost a year now and I rarely get breakouts on the chin area.

Foods/Drinks that REDUCE my breakouts

  • Vegetables and fruits everyday
This literally reduced my breakouts. I eat vegetables everyday. I saw a huge difference. Plus they are very affordable. Win-win. 🙂
  • Water
This one is also a main reason why I get less breakouts. Water also helps the body to flush out toxins. Your body needs to stay hydrated. I don’t know about you guys but I breakout when Im dehydrated. I make sure Im drinking enough. Not to the point I’m drowning myself. I drink big glasses for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The rest of the day & before going to sleep, drink in small glasses every hour so you’re not forcing your body.
  • Fresh fruit & vegetable juices
Im talking about freshly squeezed juices. Not the pre-made juices that you can find in convenience stores. Those drinks contain a lot of sugar.

I’m taking a supplement once a day aside from these things. Again, Im realistic about acne. Yes, I still get blemishes but not as much as before. That makes me happy. I do not take accutane/isotretinoin or birth control pills.

Healthy foods especially vegetables will help the biggest & most important part, targeting the inside. Do not rely on skincare products alone. Yes, products will help you but for a small part only (outside skin).

Updated Skin Care Routine

14 Nov

It’s my first time to post my updated routine. My skin’s better with less breakouts these past few months. I think these things help a lot; my diet, skin care & Im slowly saying goodbye to puberty. Hyper-pigmentation is my main problem now. Let’s start~

image Oops, I forgot to include my EH Cleansing Tissue in this photo. It’s too big and it’ll take a lot of space.😅

1. BLOT OIL & USE MAKEUP REMOVER: blot skin whether bare-faced or wearing makeup then use cleansing wipes
I dont want the oil to cover my skin when Im splashing water. It feels like the cleansing step will not be effective. I blot my skin with a regular tissue before anything else. Then I use Etude House Every Month Cleansing Tissue if I have makeup on or after a long day of sweating & commuting. Full review here.
