Review: Benton Papaya-S Sun Cream SPF 50

11 Aug

I’m very careful to try sun blocks because  I’ve used some before that broke me out. I just had a chemical peel so I have no choice but to add sun protection. Benton released new products and that includes Papaya-S Sun Cream. I like that this brand doesnt include unnecessary ingredients. They gave me a review opportunity ttry their sun cream. Just what I needed.☺

Pros:
– 50 grams of product
– Simple tube packaging
– SPF 50
– Doesnt have tons of alcohol
– Subtle powdery scent
– Light and milky texture
– Feels light on the skin
– Satin finish
– Minimal flashback/whitecast
– Did not trigger my contact dermatitis
– Did not cause breakouts

Cons:
– None

This variant is for outdoor activities. Perfect for me to test its performance. I sweat a lot and I commute daily. It has milky texture and quite liquid-y. It’s easily spread and sinks in faster than others. Skin has sheen/satin finish once absorbed. Surprisingly, it doesnt feel heavy and didnt make my skin oilier. I tried it under makeup and had no problems. It doesn’t wear off easily  and doesn’t interfere with other products.

Under very bright lighting, I saw minimal whitecast. But that can be fixed if you apply the right amount evenly. I tried to take photos with flash and here’s the result. It only gave minimal flashback. It’s not that noticeable if you ask me. If you’re going to an event, make sure your foundation and powder have no SPF because it can intensify flashbacks.

Best thing about this is it doesnt have tons of alcohol unlike others. We all know what alcohol can do to our skin in the long run. It has SPF 50. It’s already a high protection for me. I’m glad it didnt broke me out. Probably because of it’s light texture and added natural ingredients like papaya water, seed oil and fruit extract.  Would I recommend this? Yes! It has high SPF and lasts throughout a day of commuting. It didnt aggrevate my dermatitis so it’s safe for sensitive skin. I’ll always look up to this brand for making high quality products.

Review: Olivarrier Fluid Oil from Jolse

7 Aug

Oils are popular in the beauty community lately. One of them is Squalane. It’s being recognized because of its non-oily feel. It’s used in many cosmetic products for its moisturizing properties. There are different types of Squalane. The traditional is derived from Squalene (mostly made of shark liver oil). The other one is plant-based which is more preferred now.

IMG_20170803_183657_381

Many have claimed that it doesnt feel like oil at all. It made me curious and I wanted to know if it’s true. I’ve been also adding pure ingredients in my routine. Luckily, Jolse gave us the opportunity to try Olivarrier’s Fluid Oil. I’d likd to thank them.

IMG_20170803_185800_446

Description:
The freshness and quick absorption provides enough moisture for any time of the year, keeping the skin smooth by making the dead skin cells elastic without blocking the pores. The ingredient similar to the skin will improve the dryness and the roughness of the skin safely. The colorless, odorless, and harmless plant squalane is the only ingredient contained in the product. The single ingredient oil will soothe the tightness of the skin, dry eyes and lips, rough hands and nails, damaged hair, sensitive and weak skin of expecting mothers and babies.

IMG_20170803_185243_070

Ingredients:
100% Squalane

Pros:
– 30ml of product
– Nice packaging and has dropper applicator
– Plant-based, ethical
– Chemical free and no additional ingredients
– Multifunctional
– Feels light
– Sinks in the skin
– Doesn’t feel oily
– Instantly moisturizes dry skin
– Did not cause breakouts
– Did not trigger my dermatitis

Cons:
– Quite expensive, $42
– Has level 1 comedogenic rating

Let’s discuss the cons first $42 is quite expensive for me. The brand is not in the drugstore category. So that explains the price range. It’s level 1 Comedogenic. Although it has that rating, I didnt have breakouts while using this.

IMG_20170807_131813_188

The pros: I prefer oils in dropper bottle like this. There’s no leak so it’s safe for traveling. The best thing is it’s plant-based. It’s ethical and we didnt harm anything. I’m impressed with the texture and performance. It feels like oil at first. But once you apply it on the skin, it sinks in really well. Photos show the before (immediately after applying Fluid Oil) then fully absorbed after a few minutes.

Instasize_0803184816-1

It does not feel heavy unlike other oils. It moisturizes dry patches immediately. I focus on the undereye, cheek and mouth area to avoid wrinkles. It minimizes the appearance of wrinkles. It’s great to use under makeup if that’s your concern. It has a subtle glow which makes skin look healthy. Not the oil slick look.

Overall, I’m satisfied with Olivarrier’s Fluid Oil. I recommend this for dry skin or if you’re feeling dull. Also, the bottle looks gorgeous. It’s minimalistic and chic. This could be added to your skin care collection.

You can get this on Jolse.com. It is currently discounted for $35.70.☺❤

Review: SKIN FOOD Yuja Water Whitening Ampoule in Serum

7 Jan

Yuja Water is one of Skin Food’s releases last year. I was looking for a serum that isn’t too strong and can freshen up my face. I have big hopes for this that it won’t trigger my contact dermatitis. I’m using this for two months now. It’s about time to review it.

image

Description:
Whitening synergy ampoule. Contains yuja extract and moisturizing yuja oil from uncontaminated Goheung city. Moisturizing whitening synergy ampoule effective for treating freckles. After toner application, massage 1 to 2 drops on the entire face by popping the capsules.

Ingredients:

image

Pros:
– Affordable, got it on sale for less than 1000 pesos from a korean-based store
– Available through online shops and at their local branches in PH
– A bottle contains 44ml of product
– Lemon scent
– Watery consistency
– Did not trigger my contact dermatitis
– Gives light hydration
– No stickiness
– Quickly absorbed
– Did not cause breakouts
– Brightening effect for glowing skin

Cons:
– Slow in whitening

image

There’s no ingredients list on the label. I just searched it on CosDNA and the photo above is the result. This is in my Best Products of 2016 for many reasons. First, I love serums with watery consistency. It gives my oily skin enough hydration. No sticky film so it’s easy for me to apply makeup after.

Second, it doesnt break me out. Only few moisturizers do not make my skin irritated. Third, it’s a brightening serum which helps me to get that glowing skin. Expect that it’s slower to lighten dark spots. That’s the only con if you’re dealing with hyperpigmentation. It’s confusing because there’s “whitening” in its name but description on their website says it’s for brightening.

I still think it’s one of the best moisturizers I’ve tried. I rarely finish creams and serums but I’m sure with this one. I’ll use it all up because it does not cause breakouts and gives enough hydration for me. I’d recommend it to normal to oily skin.

Review: Yadah Anti Trouble Bubble Cleanser

10 Dec

We’re back at it again with a review! This is one of recent cleansers. I found out about Yadah when I was strolling in a Beauty Bar store. This korean brand has skin care and  makeup. I got to know more about it through local bloggers.

img_20161210_215809

I told you guys before that I had a massive breakout again. I finally know the reason. It’s the Vitamin D supplement that I was taking.  I stopped it and switched to plain Vitamin C tablets. Other causes were Vitamin B and Zinc.

And that being said I need to minimize the disaster. After researching about the ingredients of this bubble cleanser, I decided to buy one.

Description and Ingredients:
image-1

Pros:
-Available in-stores at Beauty Bar and online
-Affordable, around Php 625
-100ml is big enough
-Few ingredients means less risk of irritation
-Has Salicylic Acid, Aloe, Chamomile,  Rosemary and Sage extracts for calming and antibacterial
-Doesn’t sting my eyes
-One pump is enough for me
-No tightness and doesnt dry out my oily skin, not moisturizing but it’s not drying

Cons:
-Cocamidropropyl Betaine is a possible irritant

Neutral:
-Lemon scent once your spreading it but it wont leave any smell once it’s rinsed off.

How it looks like:
image-2

Overall, I’m very satisfied with this cleanser. It has great number of antibacterial extracts. Cocamidropropyl Betaine is the only risky ingredient. It makes the product foam up. Just be careful as some people are irritated to it.

As for minimizing breakouts, I think it did a good job. I did not have new blemishes while I was still using it. I cant promise you that it will prevent breakouts completely. You might think 100ml wont last long for a foam cleanser. I’m using this for 3 weeks and I’m not even halfway through. I think it’s super sulit considering it has my favorite calming ingredients.

Review: iWhite Whitening Vita Facial Wash

25 Sep

I needed to take a break from my holy grail cleanser. How many times do I have to say this? Haha. I went on grocery shopping and saw this in the beauty section. I was skeptical with its ingredients but I think it’s decent compared to other drugstore face wash.

Many skin care addicts are getting iWhite Korea products. Here are some reasons why I gave in too. 1) It’s accessible, available in 7 Eleven stores and supermarkets. 2) It’s affordable, they have packets for each product aside from full size tubes.

image

Description:
iWhite Korea Whitening Vita Facial Wash is a deep cleansing wash that removes excess oil and eliminates skin impurities while it whitens, revitalizes, and improves skin condition to reveal your skin’s radiance. It is infused with Vitamins C & E which help fight cellular damage, acne, and wrinkles. Contains natural active ingredients that also help: Prevent pimples & other skin irritations ; Maintain firmness of skin.

Ingredients from biocostech.com.ph:

screenshot_2016-09-25-19-32-13-1-1-1

Pros:
-Accessible
-Affordable, 159 pesos
-Little goes a long way
-Has aloe, allantoin, triclosan, vitamin c and vitamin e
-Doesnt dry out skin

Cons:
-Has a lot of comedogenic ingredients citric, lauric and myristic acids and they’re on top. Meaning they’re the most active.

It claims that its active ingredients are mulberry and panax ginseng extracts. I just wish they didnt separate them from the rest. That way I’d know if they are in the first line. Always remember top most ingredients are active ones.

I didnt see any change in texture, acne and whitening. Take note that I’m using this for 2 months already. I’m not sure if it contributed to my past breakouts. This has active comedogenic ingredients. I wouldnt mind if they were last on the list. My period breakouts while using this were a lot compared before. Let’s say 5 to 6 blemishes. I’ve been doing a freelance job so that must be the main reason. I had to write 4 articles per project. That’s stressful for me.

image.jpegWhat I like about it is it lathers quickly. You only need pea-size to cover the entire face. It has creamy texture. Its texture and scent remind me of Pond’s cleansers. Skin feels clean without dryness and tightening. It doesnt feel “hot” or heavy while washing unlike what I felt with Pond’s. The price is affordable too. You can get the sample size, 10ml if you want to test it first before buying the tube. Do I recommend it? Only for those who don’t have problematic skin.

First Impression: Nlighten Cloud Cream

24 Jun

I always see Nworld’s advertisements on Facebook. They’re everywhere and they have a lot of Filipino resellers. Cloud Cream is one of their best sellers.

My sis got this gift from her friend. She allowed me to try it. We want to give you guys an idea about how it feels on the skin.

IMG_20160621_205726

Description
Cloud Cream provides an instant brightening effect making the skin look more healthy and glowing. The extracts of white rice and white milk protein help maintain an even skin tone by protecting it from dark spots. This cloud cream helps limit the over-production of melanin, helps reduce the signs of aging and helps protect from UVA & UVB rays.

Formulated without Paraben, Benzophenone, Triethanolamine, Talc, Petrolatum, Mineral Oil, Synthetic Pigment and SLS.

Ingredients:
On their website it says “Grapefruit, Ginkgo, Grape, Centella Asiatica, Arctostaphylos Uva Ursi Leaf Extract, Morus Alba Bark Extract and Aloe”. We threw the box. Sorry I couldnt discuss the full list.

Performance:
The packaging is really nice. It includes a spatula which makes it hygienic. Its tub looks expensive and so is the price (P1,450) for a 30g cream.

image2

Its consistency is whipped/fluffy just like Pond’s cream. No wonder it’s called “Cloud” cream. Parang kesong puti/cream cheese yung texture. Now I’m hungry. Haha. It glides smoothly and turns liquidy. It has sun protection, for daytime use only and wash off at night.

IMG_20160621_211111

It smells like women’s shampoo & Pond’s which I’m not a fan of. But the product itself works great. Glad they reduced the use of harmful ingredients. It reminds me of Secret Key’s Snow White Cream. It instantly brightens up the complexion. You’ll see it right after applying. It does give glowing skin. It has matte finish too.

Good for those who want to quickly brighten up skin without using makeup.

First Impression: SKQIN Dual Sissi Mask – Gold & Silver Sissi

9 May

These were included in Wishtrend’s package. My first impression is they all look weird. They’re not like your regular sheet masks. Which is way better in my opinion.

There are 2 variants, Gold sissi for anti-aging and moisturizing while Silver Sissi is for anti-aging and brightening.

IMG_20160501_180322

Gold Sissi: The product which has the instant improvement for wrinkles with filling moisturizing that has lifting effect.

Silver Sissi: The instant improvement for wrinkles with filling moisturizing, the instant whitening with using BIO BRIT 3 Complex through the long study.

PROS:
-Affordable, a set of 5 sheets is priced at $17. It’s discounted now on Wishtrend’s website for $15.75
-Sheets are thick and wont rip apart
-Light lemon scent
-The ear part does help to match any face shape
-Good amount of essence to make the sheet moist
-This mask covers my entire chubby face including the jaw area. Normal sheet masks neglect that area.
-Doesnt slide off and I can move freely
-Moisturizing and calming

CONS:
-None so far

Here’s my selfie. I put it on then watched tv while eating ice cream cake. Haha.

20160506_220821-1.jpg

It’s my first time to try a mask that covers the jaws too. I thought they’re just made to help you get that v-shape. These were also designed to fit any face shape. It does feel like that because all parts of my face absorbed the essence.

The silver variant has instant whitening after every use but it’s only temporary like other brands. Both variants are moisturizing but I prefer the gold one because I have dry patches right now.

Overall, these are good addition to any routine. No breakouts for me. They’re like customizable masks because they’ll fit with your face shape. It wont slide off so you can do whatever you want while it’s on your face. I’d totally recommend these.
