Review: Alba Botanica Acne Dote Deep Pore Wash

Hello readers, sorry if I’m taking too long to post reviews. I’m back and I made a lot of drafts. Let’s start with another skin care. I found out about Alba Botanica’s cleanser when I went to Healthy Options years ago. Since then, it’s in my wish list.

– Fruity scent

Cons:
– Takes time to rinse
– Leaves a film
– Triggered my contact dermatitis

I wanted to try this but I was afraid it’ll be too strong for me. My sister bought a bottle last month. I’m seeing blackheads and whiteheads that are not yet on the surface of the skin. It’s my chance to test its magic. I want to get rid of bumps but they cant be pricked yet. I thought this cleanser was the reason of my breakout before but it’s not. The pimples were in the location of black/whiteheads I mentioned. So it definitely pushes everything out I couldn’t prick.

It has a citrus scent which reminds me of Fruitos candy.😛 It’s cooling because of the peppermint. It doesnt foam up well unlike other cleansers. It’s gel type which leaves a film. I never liked the feeling of it and it takes time to rinse. After washing it off, it’s a little drying and tightening. Immediately follow it up with a toner and moisturizer. This cleanser has 2% salicylic acid which is a good treatment alone in my opinion. You can also use a spot treatment if you want.

Too bad it triggered my contact dermatitis. Peppermint, orange and bergamot oils can be irritants. If it did not irritate me, I’d use it regularly in my routine. I feel refreshed when I use this especially after a workout or a long day of wearing makeup. This is a strong cleanser. Its ingredients are ideal for oily skin that isn’t sensitive with moderate to severe acne. It will clean out pores so the skin can breathe.

Review: DESERT ESSENCE Cleansing Bar Tea Tree Therapy

I visited Healthy Options again last month. They caught my attention. The store has a lot of imported products from brands I never heard of. Aztec Secret Healing Clay Mask and TN Dickinson’s Witch Hazel to name a few bestsellers. I went through their shelves of skin & body care. I found many cleansers. It took me 30 minutes to decide what to buy. I chose Desert Essence’s Tea Tree bar soap for many reasons.

Let’s cut to the chase. This is one of the best cleansers I’ve used! 142 grams for 299 pesos is really affordable. You’ll get the most out of it because it doesn’t melt easily. Its shelf life is 12 months after opening. It’s a huge soap so I cut it in 3 parts. I keep the rest in a cabinet.

It gives enough lather to cleanse and remove oil. Its base is Saponified Palm and Kernel Oils so there’s a squeaky clean feel. It’s not over-drying though. I still recommend applying toner and moisturizer after. There’s Jojoba oil, Tea Tree oil , Aloe and Sodium Chloride… great balance of cleansing and moisturizing.

Best part about this soap is it heals pimples fast! Cystic acne can be dried up in 2 days. I don’t need to apply spot treatment anymore. There was no initial purging the first time I used it. You know that breakout you get when you use something new a.k.a “adjusting stage”. It didnt trigger my contact dermatitis. It’s safe for sensitive skin. So far this is my best purchase this 2017.😍❤

I saw Desert Essence’s liquid cleanser too but that one’s coconut oil based and has more ingredients. I prefer this because I’m trying to have minimal products in my routine. The brand also has 100% pure tea tree oil. It’s available locally. I might get that when I visit the store again.☺

Review: T.N. Dickinson’s Witch Hazel

Hi readers, did you miss me? Haha. I was on a short break from blogging. I needed to sort all my new product reviews. My last post was a hit. And in relation to that, I’ll talk about my #1 favorite toner. Last month I bought a tiny bottle of T.N. Dickinson’s Witch Hazel. People are raving about it. I wanted to know what’s so good about it. I’m using this for 1 month+ now.

Description:
The only 100% natural astringent that effectively cleanses, soothes and treats everyday skin irritations, without overdrying or leaving behind irritating residue.

Ingredients:
All natural witch hazel (100%)

Pros:
– Affordable, 58ml for 85 pesos & 237ml for 269 pesos
– Available locally at Healthy Options branches
– Has one ingredient only
– Watery
– Non-drying
– No film & no sticky residue
– Adds little hydration
– Stops the blemish from getting bigger
– Helps to heal acne / breakouts

Cons:
– None

Neutral:
– Has medicine-like scent

I’m sure you’ve heard about this product. I’m very happy that it’s affordable. It’s actually cheap compared to other toners I’ve used before. It’s pure witch hazel and that’s equivalent to 14% alcohol. That’s enough to cleanse the skin without causing dryness. Great toner if you’re into a minimalist routine. It’s non drying. It hydrates my skin without leaving film or stickiness.

I still get breakouts when I’m on my period. But I observed this toner helps to heal them in a few days, the fastest is 2 days. You know that a spot going to be a cystic acne when it starts to hurt. In my experience, this toner stops that from happening. I highly recommend it for normal to oily skin. You can get this at Healthy Options.

What’s your favorite toner?
