My Top 5 Makeup Removers

18 Feb

I’ve been doing reviews since this year has started. Honestly, I’m already getting tired of it. So we’ll do the Top 5 series this week. I’ve tried a lot of makeup removers since I got into skin care. I have extremely oily and sensitive skin that’s prone to breakouts. I’m skeptical to use new products. Most of them are okay and some became my favorite. For the past six years, here are the products I’d gladly repurchase.

Skinlite Make-up Cleansing Tissues

image

I’m using this for 2 years now since I couldn’t find Purederm’s Acne Cleansing Wipes. It has green tea, chamomile, sage,  lavender, rosemary, aloe, ginseng and allantoin for cleansing. Its size, texture and performance are the same with Purederm’s. No breakouts too. I usually get mine in the beauty section of Landmark Makati. 30 sheets for Php 89

Etude House Every Month Cleansing Tissues

image

This has many cleansing ingredients too. It’s packed with broccoli, tea tree, garlic, camellia leaf, apple, rice bran, aloe, avocado, blueberry, oatmeal, spinach, cucumber, walnut & wine extracts. What I like most about it is its size. It’s bigger compared to other makeup wipes. One sheet is actually big for my full face makeup. I could get the most out of it and remove everything. Available at your local Etude House branches and kiosks. 15 sheets for Php 128 / 50 sheets for Php 248

Purederm Acne-Cleansing Wipes

image

I think this is phased out already but this was my first ever favorite. The cloths are moist enough to remove my full face makeup. It had no specific scent in my opinion. I was using this when I had many breakouts. It did not aggravate my acne. I remember this was under 100 pesos too.

Loreal Refreshing Micellar Water

img_1979

My first micellar water. It has minimal ingredients. It really feels refreshing while you’re wiping off makeup. It feels like I’ve already washed my face. No sticky feeling. It says no need to rinse but I still proceed to my face wash and other steps because we can’t skip those. I didn’t break out while using this. This is good for 6 months use after opening. 250ml for Php 225

Etude House Real Art Cleansing Oil – Moisture

images

Cleansing oils are for heavy duty makeup. I’ve only used one and it’s from Etude House. I followed the instructions after I posted my full review on this. The results were better. My makeup melted away plus it foams up when rinsed with water. It added moisture to my skin. A great prep step especially if you’re using a drying face wash. Little goes a long way. It has a light lemon scent. It did not cause breakouts. 185ml for Php 848

Best Products I’ve Used in 2016

30 Dec

This is a combined post for skin/body care, makeup and fragrance. I’m posting reviews weekly for 1 year straight. It’s always trial and error. Some are hits and some are misses. It took a while to sort and add them to this list because I’ve used tons of products this year. I selected the ones that gave quick results and ones I kept using.

Skin Care

SKINLITE Makeup Cleansing Tissues
I keep coming back to this makeup remover. It’s below Php 100 only for 30 sheets. Good for one month. It’s accessible for me too. I get mine in Landmark Makati. You can find it in the Hair and Accessories section. It’s on a shelf with other wet facial tissues and cotton.

LOREAL Refreshing Micellar Water
Loreal’s makeup remover made it in my list. First, it’s affordable too for Php 225. Second, it’s really refreshing. You can feel it instantly in the first swipe. It’s available in-stores at Loreal counters in department stores. You can also get it online on BeautyMNL.

AZTEC SECRET Amazonian Healing Clay
I immediately saw its effectiveness after one use. No kidding. I woke up the next day with majority of my breakouts were reduced and about to be dry. You can get this powerful mask at Healthy Options in the Philippines. It’s around Php 429. You can order it online on Aztec Secret’s official website.

VASELINE Lip Therapy Advanced Healing
This lip product is powerful. Probably because it contains 100% petroleum jelly. It’s in a hygenic tube. You can easily apply it just like a normal lip gloss. There’s no mess and you can bring it anywhere. If I can remember, it costs Php 69.75 in Landmark department store.

Beta-N Cream
This was prescribe by my dermatologist. I had contact dermatitis caused by using kojic acid soap on my face. This cream gave instant relief and hydrated my irritated flakey skin. My skin started getting back to normal after using this twice a day for 3 days. I used this for 10 days together with antihistamine, an oral medication.

SKIN FOOD Yuja Water Ampoule in Serum
I ordered it straight from Korea. This serum made it on the list because it’s one of the few serums that dont cause breakouts. It contains 30% yuja extract. The highest concentration in the line. No sting and feels light on the skin too. Full review soon!

ORGANIC ALLEY Argan Oil
I had second thoughts if I should include it because I just got it this month. But I like how it makes my skin glow. I apply it twice a day around my eye area, cheek bones and temples. The glow can be seen even under my makeup. No need for highlighters. I’ll do a full review soon. I still have a lot to say about this product.

DETAIL MAKEOVER Mineral Pressed Powder
This beat my all time favorite Maybelline Clear Smooth All in One Powder Foundation when it comes to staying matte. It’s also affordable. 199 pesos for 10g. Aside from that, their Fair shade suits my skin tone perfectly. You can get this at their kiosks or on BeautyMNL.

CATRICE Eyebrow Stylist
I wasnt impressed with this at first. It’s not long lasting for others. But for me, it lasts throughout the day. I can easily shape and fill in my brows with this. I think I’m finally mastering my brows. Haha. It’s 278 pesos, quite expensive for a brow pencil… but it’s longer compared to othets which can last for months.

Fragrance

image

BENCH Bambino
I bought this cologne again after a long time. This has been my favorite since I was in high school. It’s affordable and long lasting. A small bottle is around 85 pesos while the big one is 135 pesos.

Body Care

DOVE Purely Pampering Shea Butter Beauty Bar
I usually dont like Dove products because they leave film. My sister got me hooked with their Shea Butter variant. It smells amazing! It’s been cold lately and my skin needs additional moisture. It’s cheap too. It’s priced at 55 pesos.

November 2016 Haul: Yadah, SKINFOOD, Aztec Secret, THE FACE SHOP, Vaseline, Loreal

3 Dec

Hi readers! I apologize again for being inactive. I’m currently using new skin care. I broke out again and needed to change my old routine. They take time, 1 to 2 months before I can post reviews. I’ve already reviewed three products in this haul.

img_20161203_171618

Yadah Anti-Trouble Bubble Foam (100 ml) – Php 625
Yadah is a korean brand. I found out about it through local bloggers. They have skin care and makeup. I searched the ingredients of this and I must say they’re better than most drugstore and high end anti-acne cleansers out there. I’m using it for almost 3 weeks now. I’ll post my review when I reach the 4th week. This is available at all Beauty Bar branches.

SKINFOOD Yuja Water Ampoule in Serum (42 ml) – Php 900
Yuja Water is the latest line of Skin Food. I chose the serum type because I want my moisturizer to be watery and quickly absorbed. This has 30% concentration, highest compared to the other products in this line. I’m using this for 2 week now. I preordered this when it was on sale.

Aztec Secret Indian Healing Clay Mask (400 g) – Php 435
This mask is raved by skin care enthusiasts here in our country. They mix it with apple cider vinegar. I prefer plain water. I think ACV might be too harsh on my sensitive skin. I’m using it once a week. It’s very affordable. The tub is huge! And can last for a long time. It’s available at all Healthy Options stores as well as the Bragg ACV.

THE FACE SHOP Herb Day Cleansing Tissues (20 sheets) – Php 125
We ran out of makeup remover. I usually buy our makeup remover in department stores. It was out of our way. We went to High Street for dinner. The only option I can think of was The Face Shop. Full review here

Vaseline Lip Therapy Advanced Healing (10 g) – Php 69.75
An impulse buy that I’m thankful for. It’s the best lip moisturizer in my opinion. It instantly hydrates and chapped lips are gone in few minutes. It’s in a hygenic tube packaging. You can bring it anywhere. Full review here

Loreal True Match Liquid Concealer (7 g) – Php 300
This is my 2nd tube. I like that it’s lightweight and blends easily. It’s liquidy so expect that it’ll only give light coverage. I got it on sale for 300 pesos. Original price is 400 pesos. Once I’m done, I’ll try Covergirl’s Ready Set Gorgeous Liquid Concealer. Full review here

So what’s in your haul last month? Have you started your Christmas shopping? 🙂

Review: L’OREAL Refreshing Micellar Water

22 Oct

Loreal just released their micellar water in the Philippines this month. It’s the Refreshing variant. I’m using it for almost 3 weeks now.

img_1979

Description:
HIGH PERFORMANCE, HYPO-ALLERGENIC! Gentle even on sensitive skin type! Micellar Water is highly recommended for OILY skin type. See the magic for yourself with micelle ingredients originated from Europe which acts like magnet to remove all impurities.

Ingredients and CosDNA Analysis by mark791004:screenshot_2016-10-22-18-42-17-1

Pros:
-Affordable, 225 pesos, got it on sale on BeautyMNL for 175 pesos
-250ml is huge and can last you for 2 to 4 months
-Few ingredients, oil and paraben free
-Did not trigger my dermatitis
-Did not cause breakouts
-No sting
-Feels refreshing
-Effectively removes makeup
-Non sticky and no film

Cons:
-None in my opinion, but you have to use it all up because it expires in 6 months. It doesnt have paraben or other preservatives. Take note if you’re a hoarder and you like to try other makeup removers

Sometimes I like to skip the toning step because this removes all my makeup. That step only. I still use cleanser, moisturizer and spot treatment. Brands are marketing micellar water as “no need to wash” product. Remember that you still have to do your skin care routine even if it says no wash/rinse. Or maybe that’s just me. I’m paranoid of not cleansing my skin completely.

I minimize swiping cotton on my skin. I’m avoiding wrinkles. It has 8 ingredients only. A great addition to a minimalist skin care routine. I’m using it 5 times per week. 6 months are enough to use it all up. I recommend it to those with normal, combination to oily skin types.

You can get this in department stores and on BeautyMNL.com 🙂

What’s your ride or die makeup remover? 🙂

BeautyMNL Haul: Skin Care, Makeup and Body Care

8 Oct

It’s been 2 months since I posted a haul. I’m back with another one. This time it’s from a local/Philippine-based beauty website. BeautyMNL carries hundreds of local and international brands from drugstore to high-end. They have korean brands as well. COSRX, Klairs, Innisfree, Tony Moly and YET to name a few. I got the opportunity to order from them.

My haul is a mix of products with high ratings, bestsellers and a new release:

Loreal Refreshing Micellar Water

img_1979

Micellar water became a huge hit last year and many brands are releasing their own version. Loreal just released one here. I received a newletter from them telling me this was on sale. I knew I had to get it. Can’t say no to discounts. This is my first skin care product from Loreal. It only has 8 ingredients. It’ll be a good makeup remover especially if you’re a minimalist like me. Full details here

Detail Mineral Pressed Powder

img_1981
Detail MakeOver is a local/Philippine brand. Mineral Pressed Powder caught my attention because of its size. It’s 10 grams for 199 pesos ($4). It’s such a steal compared to other powders. They have matte liquid lipsticks and palettes as well. Full details here

Maybelline ColorSensational Matte in Clay Crush

img_1980

Now this is THE trend for lipstick addicts. If you want brown shades for a drugstore price, go for Maybelline’s Creamy Matte Brown line. Yes, they are perfect! I know the bestselling colors are quite difficult to find in-stores. Good thing all shades; Nude Embrace, Daringly Nude, Clay Crush, Nude Nuance & Burgundy Blush are available on their website.

Sooper Beaute Pimple Away Day Cream

 image
This pimple cream is one of the bestsellers. Sooper Beaute is a local brand. I found out about them on Instagram. I’m seeing many positive feedbacks after using their products. I’ve been stessed lately and it’s automatic for me to get breakouts. I’m using this cream since the day I got the package. I’m liking it so far. This will probably be the first one to be reviewed here on my blog. Full details here

Baroness Green Tea Mask

IMG_1985.JPG
A new korean brand in PH. They have different face masks but I chose green tea. We all know green tea is good for calming and detoxing. It’s great for oily and acne prone skin. Full details here

Golden Cup Balm

img_1983
This menthol balm received high ratings from reviewers. It has a relaxing and soothing scent. I got the 4g tin to test it first. We all know menthol balms are pinoys’ savior when we get sick. We use it if we have fever, colds, cough, muscle pains and etc. I’ll use this mainly for muscle pains and especially for my severe migraines. Full details here

Instantly Ageless Eyebag Remover

img_1984
When this came out, it was all over social media. I watched some before and after videos to see its purpose.I was really amazed on how quick you’ll see its effect. I knew I had to see it for myself. It’s like instant botox without the needle. I ordered this because I have malar festoons also know as eye bags on the mid cheek. It’s a difficult condition to treat. I dont know how I got them, from lack of sleep or hereditary. I’ll share my own before and after photos in my full review. Full details here

Olay Skin Whitening Bar with Rose & Milk & Black Beauty Shampoo with Conditioner

img_1986
I got these two as freebies. A good combination of sample and full sized items. Black Beauty comes in a 10ml-sachet while Olay Whitening Bar is 90g. Its size is enough on my short hair for at least two uses. You can use Olay Whitening bar for a long time.

So far I’m using two items in this haul. Can’t wait to use the rest! Which one would you like to try in this post? Share them below. My whole shopping experience will be posted tomorrow with bonus tips! 😉

By the way, if you like taking selfies (I know you do❤️), join their #selfieMNL contest! You’ll get a chance to win a Printster polaroid of your gorgeous face and a PHP200 BeautyMNL GC. Click here for the complete details.

Review: Loreal True Match Super-blendable Concealer in Light / Fair Neutral

18 Sep

It feels like I’m slacking off. I haven’t prepared drafts. I usually have 4 drafts which are good for 2 weeks. I’m into writing stuff aside from this. I’ve been creating articles but I want to get back to blogging. Just giving an update.

image1-4

Anyway, I’m still looking for great concealers. We went to Loreal’s kiosk and my sister got me this concealer. I chose Light / Fair Neutral N 1-2-3. True Match line is their bestseller. It’s unusual for drugstore brands to offer wide shade range. This line has foundation and liquid concealer. They have colors for neutral (which is what I got), warm and cool undertones.

image3-1

Description:
This oil-free concealer is formulated with Opti-Blend Complex to even your skin tone while concealing acne blemishes, imperfections, and dark undereye circles. Vitamin E and Pro-Vitamin B5 are added to nourish, strengthen and revitalize skin cells.

Ingredients: from makeupalley.comscreenshot_2016-09-18-19-38-13-1Pros:
-Available in different colors
-I like the brush applicator instead of doe foot wand
-Semi matte finish
-No oxidization
-It’s easy to blend
-Can brighten up the undereye area
-Not cakey
-Does not break me out

Cons:
-Light coverage in my opinion. It doesnt cover my dark spots

I prefer its brush applicator instead of doe foot wand. It looks like this. It gets a lot of product. I can get the most out of it. I tested it on my dark spots. I’m not satisfied because it has light coverage only.

image2-3

But I’m impressed when I used it for dark circles. It’s not cakey. It’s liquidy but not runny that’s why it’s easy to blend. Here’s a before and after photo.

image

As for the price, I think I’m neutral. It’s 400 pesos for 5.2ml. I cant argue with that because they have many shades for a drugstore brand especially their foundation. It doesnt oxidize on me which is great! I’m acidic and sometimes I look like cheetos while I’m wearing products with oxides. Do I recommend it? I do but only if you’re dealing with dark circles and mild hyperpigmentation.
