SKIN CARE

ORGANIC ALLEY Argan Oil
I was curious about argan oil. It’s non comedogenic compared to other oils. People also say that it absorbs quicker and doesnt leave oily residue. Pure argan oil is quite expensive here. Luckily, I came across a review on Organic Alley’s 100% Argan Oil. You can choose from two sizes. I got 30ml for 499 pesos at Sesou Glorietta. There’s 50ml for 750 pesos. You can also buy 10ml on their online store for 200 pesos. Full review soon!

ORGANIC ALLEY Acne & Scars Be Gone Clarifying Soap
I forgot to take a photo of this soap. I’m currently using it. I read its ingredients list and I think there’s nothing that could irritate  my skin. I can say that it’s one of my few trusted solid facial soaps. This one’s Php 250 for 100g. Full review soon!

AQUAPHOR Healing Ointment Advanced Therapy
I thought my skin was the same with my sister’s. She has sebbhoric dermatitis and her derma prescribed a steriod cream mixed with Aquaphor. I thought this would work but turns out I have contact dermatitis. I’ll try it for its other uses instead. Full review soon!

Contact Dermatitis relief from my derma
– Antihistamine
– Antibiotic astringent
– Beta-N Cream
– Moisturizing soap
All these work well. My skin calmed down after 3 days. Beta-N Cream and the antihistamine are the most effective. Clatidyne (Loratadine) was the medicine I took once a day for 10 days. Although I’m done with the medication, I’m still using the soap and antibiotic astringent.

MAKEUP

MAYBELLINE Clear Smooth All in One Powder
This is an improved version. I usually dont see a difference when they reformulate this powder. I ran out of my Detail Pressed Powder. I didnt have time to order online so I’m back to my first love.

TONY MOLY Delight Magic Lip Tint in 03
A gift from my sister. She knows I’m into korean cosmetics. I’m not sure about the price. Probably it’s around 200+ pesos. Full review soon!

POND’S Flawless White BB Cream
This was a requested product for review. I finally decided to get one. Pinays love its coverage and price. We’ll see if it will meet my standards. It’s 299 pesos. I saw a small tube too. It’s 8ml for 149 pesos at Mercury Drugs

BODY CARE

image

LUSH Maypole Soap & Serendipity Soap
My sister’s gifts. She chose the Maypole soap (225 pesos /100g). It has sweet scent just like Snow Fair Shower Gel. I chose Serendipity because of its lavender scent. I’m a sucker for lavender! It’s 245 pesos per 100g

That’s my hauliday! Tomorrow I’ll post my best products for this year. Hope you can check it out.☺

Review + Swatches: Maybelline ColorSensational Creamy Matte Brown Nude Lipsticks

12 Nov

I’m trying to keep up with my scheduled posts. This week is for lip products. Nude colors become a trend again. Thanks to celebrities. Main reason has to be Kylie Jenner. Haha. Of course we want to follow what’s “in”. Luckily, Maybelline made their matte shades. They noe have a separate line for these colors called Creamy Matte Brown Nudes. Some colors in this line are quite difficult to get in-stores. We’re glad we got the ones we liked.

img_20161108_082408
Description:
Buttery-soft formula applies rich and creamy; delivers vibrant, opaque color payoff; glides onto lips seamlessly for comfortable wear; long-lasting formula with a shine-free, velvety finish
photogrid_1478575558776
Swatch on arm (no edits):photogrid_1478565449877
Pros:
– Accessible
– Affordable, each lipstick is 299 pesos and weighs 4.2g. Sometimes it’s less 50-100 pesos if on sale.
– Silver and sturdy plastic packaging
– Love the shades
– Does not melt easily
– Creamy/buttery
– Glides on smoothly
– Pigmented

Cons:
– Can be drying

Neutral:
– Doesn’t last long in my experience

Here are the swatches on my lips. I softened the photos below to make them smooth because my lips were dry that time.
image
Nude Embrace has brownish salmon color. Clay Crush is brownish red just like clay pots. Nude Nuance is dark brown. My favorite has to be Clay Crush. It looks natural in real life. At least for me because it’s the closest to my lip color.

They glide smoothly like butter. They don’t melt easily despite the consistency/texture. They are also pigmented. Nude Embrace is a light color so I had to apply a second layer. I only did one layer for the rest. A down side for this is it can be drying…. Just like other matte lipsticks. Be sure to moisturize before or overnight which is better. Neutral about the longevity. I eat and drink a lot in a day. But it can last as long as I’m not eating yet and that rarely happens because I’m always hungry. It also depends on habits like lip biting.

This is one of the most affordable trendy lines in the market today. I still know other brands that are cheaper by the way. But go for Maybelline if you’re looking for a brand where you can try on lippies right away.

You can get these at Maybelline counters in department stores or online through BeautyMNL. 🙂

Review: Detail MakeOver Mineral Pressed Powder in Fair

6 Nov

This is just my second time to use a local brand this year. Wow, I’m really good at doing my 2016 New Year’s Resolution, huh? 😅 I was looking for something that could replace my ride or die powder foundation, Maybelline Clear Smooth All in One Foundation. Last month, BeautyMNL got in touch with me to try their shop. I found out about Detail a.k.a. Detail Make Over on their website. I’m glad I did. Read the rest of this post to find out.😉 P.S. I did not edit the other photos’ brightness and contrast so you’ll get the shade reference.

img_1981
Description:
Keeping oil at bay is no longer a problem with our Mineral Pressed Powder. This finely-milled powder keeps your face shine-free while allowing your skin to breathe with its matte lightweight finish. Comes with a sponge and mirror for easy touch ups all day. Available in 4 shades: Fair, Light, Natural, and Beige.

Ingredients:image-4

Swatch: Fair has yellow undertonephotogrid_1478409823762-1

Pros:
-Very affordable, 10 grams for only 199 pesos ($4)
– Nice packaging, has mirror and compartment for the sponge
-Few ingredients
-Fragrance free
-Fair matches my skin tone really well
-Little goes a long way
-Helps to minimize pores, not completely but it helps.
-Completely matte and has slight airbrush finish
-Feels light on the skin
-Has good oil control. That’s surprising because I have extremely oily skin.

Cons:
-Can be chalky if applied too much
-Can settle in creases

photogrid_1478428357943

I am surprised that this amazing product is 199 pesos only. You’ll get 10 grams compared to other powders. Its packaging has a compartment for the applicator. It has few ingredients so there’s less chance of irritation. I only need to swipe the sponge on the powder a few times to completely cover my entire face. This does not give coverage but it’s good for setting makeup. You can use this alone and you’re good to go. Lucky you, you have clear skin.😀 I noticed that it can help to minimize pores. Again, not completely but the change in their size is noticeable.

I love this mineral pressed powder because it’s lightweight on the skin. It’s like I’m not wearing anything. I’m also surprised it has good oil control. I have extremely oily and sweaty skin. I would normally blot my face every 30 minutes but not with this powder. I only blot every 2 hours, max.😍

I highly recommend it for oily skin! This is matte and has slight airbrush finish. If you still want to try it and you have dry skin, make sure you moisturize properly first. Apply it using a brush instead of the sponge. For dry to normal skin, you might want to consider applying highlighter. Or you can wait for your skin to oil up just like my skin to still get your “natural hightlight”. We don’t want to look flat.😉

Now the real question is… did this beat my ride or die Maybelline Powder Foundation? I have to say yes!!

BeautyMNL Haul: Skin Care, Makeup and Body Care

8 Oct

It’s been 2 months since I posted a haul. I’m back with another one. This time it’s from a local/Philippine-based beauty website. BeautyMNL carries hundreds of local and international brands from drugstore to high-end. They have korean brands as well. COSRX, Klairs, Innisfree, Tony Moly and YET to name a few. I got the opportunity to order from them.

My haul is a mix of products with high ratings, bestsellers and a new release:

Loreal Refreshing Micellar Water

img_1979

Micellar water became a huge hit last year and many brands are releasing their own version. Loreal just released one here. I received a newletter from them telling me this was on sale. I knew I had to get it. Can’t say no to discounts. This is my first skin care product from Loreal. It only has 8 ingredients. It’ll be a good makeup remover especially if you’re a minimalist like me. Full details here

Detail Mineral Pressed Powder

img_1981
Detail MakeOver is a local/Philippine brand. Mineral Pressed Powder caught my attention because of its size. It’s 10 grams for 199 pesos ($4). It’s such a steal compared to other powders. They have matte liquid lipsticks and palettes as well. Full details here

Maybelline ColorSensational Matte in Clay Crush

img_1980

Now this is THE trend for lipstick addicts. If you want brown shades for a drugstore price, go for Maybelline’s Creamy Matte Brown line. Yes, they are perfect! I know the bestselling colors are quite difficult to find in-stores. Good thing all shades; Nude Embrace, Daringly Nude, Clay Crush, Nude Nuance & Burgundy Blush are available on their website.

Sooper Beaute Pimple Away Day Cream

 image
This pimple cream is one of the bestsellers. Sooper Beaute is a local brand. I found out about them on Instagram. I’m seeing many positive feedbacks after using their products. I’ve been stessed lately and it’s automatic for me to get breakouts. I’m using this cream since the day I got the package. I’m liking it so far. This will probably be the first one to be reviewed here on my blog. Full details here

Baroness Green Tea Mask

IMG_1985.JPG
A new korean brand in PH. They have different face masks but I chose green tea. We all know green tea is good for calming and detoxing. It’s great for oily and acne prone skin. Full details here

Golden Cup Balm

img_1983
This menthol balm received high ratings from reviewers. It has a relaxing and soothing scent. I got the 4g tin to test it first. We all know menthol balms are pinoys’ savior when we get sick. We use it if we have fever, colds, cough, muscle pains and etc. I’ll use this mainly for muscle pains and especially for my severe migraines. Full details here

Instantly Ageless Eyebag Remover

img_1984
When this came out, it was all over social media. I watched some before and after videos to see its purpose.I was really amazed on how quick you’ll see its effect. I knew I had to see it for myself. It’s like instant botox without the needle. I ordered this because I have malar festoons also know as eye bags on the mid cheek. It’s a difficult condition to treat. I dont know how I got them, from lack of sleep or hereditary. I’ll share my own before and after photos in my full review. Full details here

Olay Skin Whitening Bar with Rose & Milk & Black Beauty Shampoo with Conditioner

img_1986
I got these two as freebies. A good combination of sample and full sized items. Black Beauty comes in a 10ml-sachet while Olay Whitening Bar is 90g. Its size is enough on my short hair for at least two uses. You can use Olay Whitening bar for a long time.

So far I’m using two items in this haul. Can’t wait to use the rest! Which one would you like to try in this post? Share them below. My whole shopping experience will be posted tomorrow with bonus tips! 😉

By the way, if you like taking selfies (I know you do❤️), join their #selfieMNL contest! You’ll get a chance to win a Printster polaroid of your gorgeous face and a PHP200 BeautyMNL GC. Click here for the complete details.

Review + Swatch: Catrice Eyebrow Stylist in 030 Brown-Eyed Peas

24 Sep

I have only tried 5 brow products in my life including this new review. I dont know why brows became so important. I gave in. Hah. I’ve read and watched few reviews on Catrice products in general. I want to explore the brand since it’s underrated. I looked for a brow pencil that’ll give natural finish. I went to their kiosk and asked the SA if they have one. She was watching me the whole time. I didnt have a choice but to buy this. It’s not her fault btw. I just felt uncomfortable. It would be awkward if I return the item. Haha.

image
I lost the other lid. I did my makeup while sitting on my bed. I dropped it and magically disappeared.

Description:
Spot on: center stage for the eye brows – the Eye Brow Stylist comes in a practical pen-shape and convinces with its simple yet accurate application. It creates perfect eye brows thanks to the professional brush, which helps to apply the powdery texture on the eyebrows for a natural finish. Never go without again!

Ingredients:screenshot_2016-09-19-18-15-46-1

Pros:
-Long pencil that can last for months
-Natural finish
-Buildable to “Instagram” / thick eyebrows

Cons:
-No sharpener included
-Quite expensive, 279 pesos
-Doesnt stay on for a whole day on my oily and sweaty skin

Here’s what it looks like and swatches:

image

image

It’s a pretty standard item. I just dont like it because 1) no sharpener, good thing we have one at home for this size. 2) It’s quite expensive for a brow product without sharpener / is not retractable. 3) It’s not long lasting for my oily skin. I had to retouch the outer brow part.

The good side: It’s longer compared to other pencils. It gives natural finish although it’s made of wax.. which is great for everyday. It’s buildable to Instagram brows if you want. You can control the thickness to look “beat”.

Catrice and Essence have the same parent company. They’re cruelty free according to Cruelty Free Kitty. I like brands with good ethics. It seems like Catrice has higher quality face products compared to other drugstore brands… I’ll explore their products further. Starting with the bestsellers.

Review: Loreal True Match Super-blendable Concealer in Light / Fair Neutral

18 Sep

It feels like I’m slacking off. I haven’t prepared drafts. I usually have 4 drafts which are good for 2 weeks. I’m into writing stuff aside from this. I’ve been creating articles but I want to get back to blogging. Just giving an update.

image1-4

Anyway, I’m still looking for great concealers. We went to Loreal’s kiosk and my sister got me this concealer. I chose Light / Fair Neutral N 1-2-3. True Match line is their bestseller. It’s unusual for drugstore brands to offer wide shade range. This line has foundation and liquid concealer. They have colors for neutral (which is what I got), warm and cool undertones.

image3-1

Description:
This oil-free concealer is formulated with Opti-Blend Complex to even your skin tone while concealing acne blemishes, imperfections, and dark undereye circles. Vitamin E and Pro-Vitamin B5 are added to nourish, strengthen and revitalize skin cells.

Ingredients: from makeupalley.comscreenshot_2016-09-18-19-38-13-1Pros:
-Available in different colors
-I like the brush applicator instead of doe foot wand
-Semi matte finish
-No oxidization
-It’s easy to blend
-Can brighten up the undereye area
-Not cakey
-Does not break me out

Cons:
-Light coverage in my opinion. It doesnt cover my dark spots

I prefer its brush applicator instead of doe foot wand. It looks like this. It gets a lot of product. I can get the most out of it. I tested it on my dark spots. I’m not satisfied because it has light coverage only.

image2-3

But I’m impressed when I used it for dark circles. It’s not cakey. It’s liquidy but not runny that’s why it’s easy to blend. Here’s a before and after photo.

image

As for the price, I think I’m neutral. It’s 400 pesos for 5.2ml. I cant argue with that because they have many shades for a drugstore brand especially their foundation. It doesnt oxidize on me which is great! I’m acidic and sometimes I look like cheetos while I’m wearing products with oxides. Do I recommend it? I do but only if you’re dealing with dark circles and mild hyperpigmentation.

Review + Before & After: NYX Above & Beyond Full Coverage Concealer in 03 Light

3 Sep

I wanted to try this for many years. Just wasnt sure if it was worth it. I was debating if I should get the Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer or this one. I was strolling in the department store again. Yup, dakilang tambay ako doon.😅 Collection’s stall was in another store. I got lazy so I picked this one instead. I expect a lot from cream concealers. Always go for cream concealers if you want better coverage.

image
Description:
Obscure imperfections and blur away problem areas with one of our Concealer Jars. Now available in 10 more shades to accommodate an even wider range of skin tones, this creamy formula stands up to the villains of unwelcome imperfections with a vengeance

Ingredients:
image

Pros:
-Affordable, 360 pesos
-Has ingredients list on the label
-7g, big compared to other jar concealers
-available in many shades
-Little goes a long way
-Did not break me out
-No oxidization/darkening
-Not as oily as other cream concealers
-Medium coverage for my skin condition

Cons:
-Cakey
-Not good for textures
-Doesnt last the whole day for my oily and sweaty skin

Here are some photos taken using my phone. One without flash and the other was taken with flash.image

It’s medium coverage for me. I have to add a second layer for my dark spots. I can see that it’s cakey even if I also dab the second layer. I always wait for few minutes up to an hour before I go out so it’s settled down. It starts to look like skin when I blot with tissue. It has oxides but I’m glad it didnt oxidize/turn orange on me.😃imageIt’s not as oily as other cream concealers. Unfortunately it’s not long lasting for me. I dont use primers but I tried other concealers that stayed on the whole day. Its finish leans to semi-matte. As for textured skin; it can emphasize textures like acne, dry patches and acne scars/dents. Wait for it to settle just like what I do if you’re planning to get this. It can look weird on sweaty skin. I’m very sweaty and it can settle to sweat forming like little circles. Be sure to dab tissue right away to avoid it.

It’s not the best concealer for me but it’ll do for now. Do I recommend it? I recommend it for normal to oily skin and if you dont need much coverage.

Have you tried this or any NYX product? My next target is Catrice cream concealer. If you have recommendations, please share it with us.😊
