First Impression: Flawless White Plus Cream

I’m dealing with lots of hyperpigmentation. Flawless’ resident doctor recommended their White Plus Cream to lighten spots. She knows I have contact dermatitis. She said it’s difficult to cure my acne because of it. I agree with her. She only recommends superficial products like this which is risky for my condition. Total amount of products she recommended was 15k pesos. Oh hell naw. I wont spend that amount on anything I’m not confident with. I checked and felt skeptical because of the ingredients. I still bought one because it’s the most affordable in the list and I also have dry patches that need moisturizing.

Pros:
– Available locally at Flawless clinics and some SM Department Stores
– Simple plastic packaging
– Little goes a long way
– Moisturizes dry patches
– Doesnt look oily when absorbed
– Skin feels soft

Cons:
– Php 780 is quite expensive for a 15g tub
– Strong floral and powder scent
– Feels heavy
-Triggered my contact dermatitis

IMG_20180320_145630_897.jpg

I used this for 3 days as spot treatment for dry patches and dark spots. It effectively moisturized dry areas. It’s a thick cream so you’ll only need a small amount. Once absorbed, it doesnt look oily. It’s more like dewy. My skin feel so soft when I used this. The packaging is sturdy and can be brought while you’re travelling.

IMG_20180320_145731.png

Unfortunately, it triggered my contact dermatitis. I have rashes on sensitive areas mainly on the cheeks. It must be the lactic acid, emulsifying wax, peppermint extract or the fragrance…. Which reminds me of what a grandma would use. It feels a bit heavy. It’s not for commuting or other activities that involves sweating. This is ideal for night time on dry and mature skin. Its dewy finish makes skin look healthy. You can get this in their clinics and some SM Department Stores.

Review: The Saem Cover Perfection Ideal Concealer Duo in 1.5 Natural Beige

I like to use concealer instead of thick foundations to cover hyperpigmentation. In my past Althea haul, I bought The Saem’s concealer because it was on sale. I tried it for a month. I have a love-hate relationship with it. I thought 01 is too light for me and 02 is too dark for me. So I had high hopes that 1.5 will be the closest shade for me.

IMG_20180320_130416_465.jpg

Description (from Althea’s website) :
The Saem’s Cover Perfection Ideal Concealer Duo comes with both a liquid (evens out larger surfaces areas like under the eyes) and a cream concealer (cover up smaller spots like blemishes and scars) on either end to complete a gorgeous canvas. This dynamic duo also contains SPF of 27 and 28, keeping your skin protected from the sun all day. Size: 4.2g + 4.5g

Ingredients (from Althea’s website) :

the_SAEM_Cover_Perfection_Ideal_Concealer_Duo_1_02Pros:

– Affordable, got it for Php360
– Simple and travel friendly packaging
– Fair amount of product
– Little goes a long way
– Light to medium coverage
– Liquid covers redness and minimal dark spots
– Cream covers spots that are darker

Cons:
– Limited shades
– 1.5 looks orange on me
– Can accentuate dry patches
– Gives intense flashbacks
– Caused my breakouts
– Wears off throughout the day

IMG_20180320_132424_447.jpg

For my skin condition, I’d say both the liquid and cream can give light to medium coverage. It can be full coverage if your concerns are only redness and minor spots. I can’t describe the exact scent of it. It smells like wax and a little hint of paint but it goes away. It didn’t bother me. A second layer of the liquid covers my redness really well. One layer of cream gives good coverage.

PhotoGrid_1521522538901.png

Korean makeup is really nice but I dont like that majority of them have SPF. This gave intense flashback when I used my phone’s camera. Cream has SPF 27 while the liquid has SPF 28.  It looks orange on me in natural lighting but looks white on me with flash. So saan ako lulugar? Haha! It caused my recent breakout of cystic acnes.

This is a really good concealer if you dont have sensitive skin. It will probably impress you if you can get your shade match. Both have good coverage and very affordable. It can last for 2 to 3 months max if you’re using it frequently. This is not for events where there’s flash photography. Always moisturize and prime first to avoid dry patches. I just dont like that it broke me out. Until now skin hasn’t recovered from it yet.

Skin101 Consultation + Pimple Injection

My breakouts were more than usual these past few weeks. I searched for clinics offering pimple injection. Skin101 has lowest price so far. I called my preferred branch to ask for the costs:

Doctor Consultation: Php 300
Pimple Injection: Php 50 per piece

The process was smooth. All I had to do was to fill up a form with my details. Then I waited for less than 5 minutes to get to the treatment room. An aesthetician did the procedure. If you’re not confident about that, you can ask their doctor to do it plus consultation fee. I didnt have problems because I was at ease with my aesthetician. She tells me everytime when she’s about to inject the solution. Thanks to her I was mentally prepared for every shot. Haha! She was very nice and didnt do sermon. May iba kasi pinapagalitan ako. Like hey I can’t stop my breakouts. This isn’t my choice.😅

I’m writing this after 24 hours. All the cystic acne have subsided already. I’m satisfied with it and the cost did not hurt my wallet. It’s for cystic acne without pus, ideal if you just want to get rid of it fast or if you have an event the next day.

*Note that this treatment can cause depressed scars if the amount of IL is too much. That’s the risk you have to know.

Skin101 Market Market doesn’t have scheduled appointments. All clients are walk-in. I went there in the afternoon on a weekday. The clinic is usually packed on weekends. Doctors arent available daily so if you want a consultation, call your preferred branch first and ask for the sched. Phone numbers are listed on their website.

Review: Alba Botanica Acne Dote Deep Pore Wash

Hello readers, sorry if I’m taking too long to post reviews. I’m back and I made a lot of drafts. Let’s start with another skin care. I found out about Alba Botanica’s cleanser when I went to Healthy Options years ago. Since then, it’s in my wish list.

IMG_20180227_175439_222

Description:

You’ll be cleaned up and ready to go with squeaky clean skin.

Ingredients:
Aqua (Water), Coco-Betaine, Disodium Cocoyl Glutamate, Sodium Chloride, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Glycerin, Citrus Aurantium Bergamia (Bergamot) Fruit Oil(2), Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Peel Oil(2), Mentha Piperita (Peppermint) Oil(2), Azardirachta Indica Leaf Extract(1), Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract(1), Carum Petroselinum (Parsley) Extract, Hamamelis Virginiana (Witch Hazel) Water, Melissa Officinalis Leaf Extract, Salix Alba (Willow) Bark Extract(1), Urtica Dioica (Nettle) Extract, Alcohol(1), Citric Acid, Dehydroacetic Acid, Benzoic Acid, Phenoxyethanol, Potassium Sorbate, Sodium Benzoate, Citral, Limonene, Linalool (1)Certified Organic Ingredient (2)For scent only

Pros:
– Affordable, around 300+ pesos
– Simple plastic packaging
– Available locally in SM Department Stores and Healthy Options
– Cooling
– Fruity scent
– Pushes out bumps, whiteheads and blackheads
– Smoothens skin

Cons:
– Takes time to rinse
– Leaves a film
– Triggered my contact dermatitis

I wanted to try this but I was afraid it’ll be too strong for me. My sister bought a bottle last month. I’m seeing blackheads and whiteheads that are not yet on the surface of the skin. It’s my chance to test its magic. I want to get rid of bumps but they cant be pricked yet. I thought this cleanser was the reason of my breakout before but it’s not. The pimples were in the location of black/whiteheads I mentioned. So it definitely pushes everything out I couldn’t prick.

PhotoGrid_1519726141254

It has a citrus scent which reminds me of Fruitos candy.😛 It’s cooling because of the peppermint. It doesnt foam up well unlike other cleansers. It’s gel type which leaves a film. I never liked the feeling of it and it takes time to rinse. After washing it off, it’s a little drying and tightening. Immediately follow it up with a toner and moisturizer. This cleanser has 2% salicylic acid which is a good treatment alone in my opinion. You can also use a spot treatment if you want.

Too bad it triggered my contact dermatitis. Peppermint, orange and bergamot oils can be irritants. If it did not irritate me, I’d use it regularly in my routine. I feel refreshed when I use this especially after a workout or a long day of wearing makeup. This is a strong cleanser. Its ingredients are ideal for oily skin that isn’t sensitive with moderate to severe acne. It will clean out pores so the skin can breathe.

Review: Onsaemeein Galactomyces

I was browsing Althea’s website and found serums that are less than 1000 pesos ($20). I’ve always wanted to try galactomyces ever since it became popular in k-beauty world. Now what is galactomyces? It’s an extract from a fungus used in making sake/japanese wine. The fermented extract is in skin care for anti aging, brightening and repairing.

IMG_20180204_103623_160

This one from Onsaemeein is 100% pure. That’s what caught my attention. I was skeptical because I dont know if it give a positive or negative reaction. I said in my past haul that I’ll review this after a month. I’m using this for more than two weeks now. I’m ready to give my final thoughts.

Description:
A 100% Galactomyces fermented essence improves skin texture and wrinkles, brightens skin tone and maintain skin moisture oil balance. Use after cleansing and toner. Apply moderate amount and pat for absorption.

IMG_20180204_105339_205

Pros:
– Very affordable, 420 pesos (approx $8)
– Frosted glass bottle
– With dropper
– Pure ingredient
– Feels like water
– Pore mininizing
– Mattifying
– Controls oil
– Skin tightening

Cons:
– Triggered my contact dermatitis

IMG_20180204_103659_644

It’s runny like water. It’s absorbed in just a few seconds. It wouldn’t be a problem when you’re in a hurry. I was amazed during the first few days of using this. I immediately saw how great its oil control is. It’s mattifying which made my makeup last longer. It tightens the skin like I just had botox. My pores are also reduced when I’m using this.

This is such a great product. I just wish it didnt trigger the areas where I’m prone to contact dermatitis. I’m still using this on my nose, nasal folds, sides of mouth and porous areas. It’s ideal for those with oily skin who want anti-aging products. Start with a little amount then increase as your skin adjusts. Other skin types can use it too but add your moisturizer after.

Review: Covergirl Ready Set Gorgeous Oil-Free Foundation in 105 Classic Ivory

It’s been a while since I made a foundation review. It takes time to decide which ones to buy. What I look for in face makeup: lightweight, oil free and stays in place the whole day. I found out about Covergirl’s Ready Set Gorgeous line when I visited their PH Facebook page. The prices of this line caught my attention. They’re all below 500 pesos. I watched reviews on Youtube that convinced me to buy one.

Ingredients:20180202_172446-1-1

Pros:
– Available locally in department stores and malls
– Affordable, 495 pesos
– Plastic tube packaging
– Has mild powdery scent
– Lightweight
– Oil-free
– Matte finish
– Skin-like finish
– Good oil control
– Did not trigger my contact dermatitis

Cons:
– Only 2 shades available in the Philippines
– Oxidizes on me
– Not enough coverage for me
– Can accentuate pores and texture

IMG_20180202_173123_113

This doesnt give enough coverage for me. Note that I’m applying it using my finger. I dont have a brush and I’m always in a rush. Wait…. that rhymed. Haha! Youtubers prefer to apply this using a stippling brush. It gives light to medium coverage depending on how you apply it. It’s thin, sets and dries quickly. You have to blend it quickly. It can accentuate pores and texture like small bumps. It oxidizes on me just like other water-based liquid makeup. It turns really dark on me after a few minutes like I’m oompa loompa. There’s only 2 shades here in the Philippines and this is the lightest. It has pink undertone.

PhotoGrid_1517563759461-1

You can use it all up buy cutting the plastic tube. It also has a light powdery scent that goes away quickly. I like that it’s lightweight. Skin still feels like skin after application, no stickiness. I used this foundation almost everyday before and it didn’t trigger my contact dermatitis. It doesnt make my skin oiler. It actually controls oil production for a few hours. This is ideal for oily skin. I preferred matte finish before. But now that I’m almost in mid 20s, I’m starting to have a mix of dry and oily areas. In short, I have combination skin. Matte finish can make anyone look sick when it’s applied on the wrong skin type. If you’re planning use this, bring back the color with blush, lipstick and highlight. It stays in plays all day especially when set with powder or spray.

Review: Skin Potions Snowberry Sleeping Cream Mask

Have you heard about Skin Potions? It was one of the suggested people on my Instagram. I checked out their products and of course I had to start with their bestseller. I ordered a tub on BeautyMNL. Snowberry Sleeping Cream is raved by local bloggers. I saw a review with before and after photos. This product helped to lighten her dark spots. You know I’m all about that. Haha!

IMG_20170803_172737_928

Description:
Lightens to minimize the look of dark spots and hyperpigmentation; helps treat acne to banish breakouts; smoothens and reduces the appearance of stretch marks; soothes insect bites; can also be used as a makeup primer and pore minimizer; protects with SPF45; formulated with papaya extract, bearberry extract, licorice extract, snail filtrate, whitenol extract (mix of potent natural whitening oils), acerola cherry extract, rice bran oil, titanium dioxide and essential oils; leaves a matte finish.

IMG_20170803_175156_514

Pros:
– Affordable
– Cute packaging
– Available in-stores and online
– Little goes a long way
– Smells great!
– Matt finish
– Can be used on targeted areas
– Moisturizes skin really well
– Lightened some spots

Cons:
– Triggered my contact dermatitis
– Can make you look ghostly white
– Not effective for deep spots
– No full ingredients list

Neutral:
– Has SPF

IMG_20170803_175358_542

It costs 450 pesos for 50 grams. It smells like strawberry. I wanted to eat it when I smelled it for the first time. Haha! It comes in a pink plastic tub. I didn’t have a problem with leakage. The cream is thick and can be used as spot treatment too as seen in the photo below. I only need a pea size amount for the whole face. That size is enough to moisturize my skin. It also lighted some of my spots that were not deep. Meaning those spots in the epidermis layer only.

IMG_20170803_175522_620

Now for the cons, I was hoping it wont trigger the areas where I have dermatitis (cheeks and forehead). Sadly, I always get itchy on those areas while I was using this cream. I dont want to waste this so I’m dabbing it on spots instead of applying on the whole face. Don’t overdo the application. It can make you look ghostly white whether you have fair or dark tones. I have pale skin and use this at night only. The active ingredients are on the label. That’s not enough for me. I need the full ingredients list. I cant find it online either. My tub expires in 2019. There must be a preservative in it.

The name and claims are contradicting. It has SPF but it’s a sleeping cream mask. Sunscreen can irritate skin if used while you’re sleeping. That’s the time your skin needs to breathe and repair. SPF is ideal for daytime. Maybe they can make another version without SPF?

Do I recommend this? Yes, for those who don’t have sensitive skin and not prone to intense hyperpigmentation. It wont be enough for those who easily get deep and dark spots like me. It is affordable, locally made and many people swear by it. It just didnt work for me. Here’s a tip. You can get it for a lower price during their bazaars and BeautyMNL sales.
