Review + Coverage Test: Dermacol Make-Up Cover in 208 & 210

This is my favorite post so far. Today’s going to be about my favorite foundation. Dermacol is a brand from Czech Republic. Their Make-up Cover was raved last year. I ordered samples of 208 and 210 just to see which one fits me. Read the rest to find out more about this famous product~

The clinically tested, extreme covering Make up Cover was created as the first of its kind in Europe and one of the first in the world. The license for this foundation was eventually sold to Hollywood. It contains 50% pigments, which makes it a weapon against skin imperfections. DERMACOL MAKE-UP COVER provides PERFECT COVERAGE even in thin layers and is the perfect corrector for dark under-eye, unpleasant spots and skin blemishes. It completely covers acne, loss of pigmentation, post surgical bruising, tattoos etc. It may be used on the entire face or body for color correction, darkening or lightening the skin tones, and ensuring ideal balance. It is widely used as a professional make-up for photo or film shoots, modeling and for festive occasions.

Cant find it on their website

– Affordable
– Comes in many shades
– Little goes a long way
– Tube-type packaging
– Medium to full coverage
– Doesnt accentuate textures
– Smoothens skin’s appearance
– Doesnt cause breakouts
– Did not trigger my contact dermatitis

– Feels heavy
– Wears off after a few hours
– Can get cakey

Both shades dont match me again. Haha! 208 is too light and 210 is too dark. I mix them with my other foundations to get the right color.

I’m glad that this product is very affordable. You can get the full size for less than 1000 pesos. But beware of fakes. Buy from trusted sellers only. This foundation was specifically made as stage makeup. My skin is so “snatched” when I’m using this. It’s so smooth that it looks unrealistic. You have to apply contour, blush and highlight. Or wait for it to set before you head out.

Now for the coverage test:

It’s the only drugstore foundation that gives great coverage, in my opinion. I like that it doesnt emphasize my textures compared to other foundations. I have oily skin but I prefer this over matte finish. Now for the down side; it can feel heavy. I mix it with other products instead. If you want to use it alone, apply it with a damped sponge to reduce heaviness. It also wears off after a few hours. The longevity will depend on your activities like commuting or staying the whole day in an airconditioned place.

This product is great for covering hyperpigmentations. It would be great for formal events as stated in the description. This is not for people who like natural no makeup look. You will look snatched for sure and that’s what I like personally. Have you tried this? What shade is your match?

Review: The Saem Cover Perfection Ideal Concealer Duo in 1.5 Natural Beige

I like to use concealer instead of thick foundations to cover hyperpigmentation. In my past Althea haul, I bought The Saem’s concealer because it was on sale. I tried it for a month. I have a love-hate relationship with it. I thought 01 is too light for me and 02 is too dark for me. So I had high hopes that 1.5 will be the closest shade for me.

Description (from Althea’s website) :
The Saem’s Cover Perfection Ideal Concealer Duo comes with both a liquid (evens out larger surfaces areas like under the eyes) and a cream concealer (cover up smaller spots like blemishes and scars) on either end to complete a gorgeous canvas. This dynamic duo also contains SPF of 27 and 28, keeping your skin protected from the sun all day. Size: 4.2g + 4.5g

Ingredients (from Althea’s website) :

– Affordable, got it for Php360
– Simple and travel friendly packaging
– Fair amount of product
– Little goes a long way
– Light to medium coverage
– Liquid covers redness and minimal dark spots
– Cream covers spots that are darker

– Limited shades
– 1.5 looks orange on me
– Can accentuate dry patches
– Gives intense flashbacks
– Caused my breakouts
– Wears off throughout the day

For my skin condition, I’d say both the liquid and cream can give light to medium coverage. It can be full coverage if your concerns are only redness and minor spots. I can’t describe the exact scent of it. It smells like wax and a little hint of paint but it goes away. It didn’t bother me. A second layer of the liquid covers my redness really well. One layer of cream gives good coverage.

Korean makeup is really nice but I dont like that majority of them have SPF. This gave intense flashback when I used my phone’s camera. Cream has SPF 27 while the liquid has SPF 28.Β  It looks orange on me in natural lighting but looks white on me with flash. So saan ako lulugar? Haha! It caused my recent breakout of cystic acnes.

This is a really good concealer if you dont have sensitive skin. It will probably impress you if you can get your shade match. Both have good coverage and very affordable. It can last for 2 to 3 months max if you’re using it frequently. This is not for events where there’s flash photography. Always moisturize and prime first to avoid dry patches. I just dont like that it broke me out. Until now skin hasn’t recovered from it yet.

Review + Swatches: Tony Moly Delight Magic Lip Tint in 03

It’s been a while since I talked about Tony Moly. This was the second korean brand that I got hooked with. I’ve always wanted to try their lip tints. My sister gave me one in 03 Red Berry. Yes, again. She’s really not into these colors. Haha! Welp, more for me! This will be a quick review since there isn’t ,uch to talk about lip tints in general.πŸ˜›

A clear gel-type tint moistures the lips with the ingredient extracted from the berries and turns your lip color into a gorgeous deep pink after putting on.

– Cute packaging
– Smells like berry
– Affordable, 228 pesos
– Did not cause dryness
– Long lasting

– Quite sticky

There are many reasons why it’s one of their bestsellers. It has a simple but cute packaging. We cant analyze the ingredients. I couldn’t find the ingredients list on their website. It smells good and I want to eat it. Haha! It’s affordable and long lasting. I swatched it on my arm and tried to remove it with running water. I had to rub it and use a cloth. It adds a little moisture so it did not cause chapped lips. The only con I have for this is it’s quite sticky. I think it helps with longevity. I recommend it for everyday use. This is for any occassion especially if you want a gift under 500 pesos.☺

Review: Detail MakeOver Mineral Pressed Powder in Fair

This is just my second time to use a local brand this year. Wow, I’m really good at doing my 2016 New Year’s Resolution, huh? πŸ˜… I was looking for something that could replace my ride or die powder foundation, Maybelline Clear Smooth All in One Foundation. Last month, BeautyMNL got in touch with me to try their shop. I found out about Detail a.k.a. Detail Make Over on their website. I’m glad I did. Read the rest of this post to find out.πŸ˜‰Β P.S. I did not edit the other photos’ brightness and contrast so you’ll get the shade reference.

Keeping oil at bay is no longer a problem with our Mineral Pressed Powder. This finely-milled powder keeps your face shine-free while allowing your skin to breathe with its matte lightweight finish. Comes with a sponge and mirror for easy touch ups all day. Available in 4 shades: Fair, Light, Natural, and Beige.

Swatch: Fair has yellow undertonephotogrid_1478409823762-1

-Very affordable, 10 grams for only 199 pesos ($4)
– Nice packaging, has mirror and compartment for the sponge
-Few ingredients
-Fragrance free
-Fair matches my skin tone really well
-Little goes a long way
-Helps to minimize pores, not completely but it helps.
-Completely matte and has slight airbrush finish
-Feels light on the skin
-Has good oil control. That’s surprising because I have extremely oily skin.

-Can be chalky if applied too much
-Can settle in creases

I am surprised that this amazing product is 199 pesos only. You’ll get 10 grams compared to other powders. Its packaging has a compartment for the applicator. It has few ingredients so there’s less chance of irritation. I only need to swipe the sponge on the powder a few times to completely cover my entire face. This does not give coverage but it’s good for setting makeup. You can use this alone and you’re good to go. Lucky you, you have clear skin.πŸ˜€ I noticed that it can help to minimize pores. Again, not completely but the change in their size is noticeable.

I love this mineral pressed powder because it’s lightweight on the skin. It’s like I’m not wearing anything. I’m also surprised it has good oil control. I have extremely oily and sweaty skin. I would normally blot my face every 30 minutes but not with this powder. I only blot every 2 hours, max.😍

I highly recommend it for oily skin! This is matte and has slight airbrush finish. If you still want to try it and you have dry skin, make sure you moisturize properly first. Apply it using a brush instead of the sponge. For dry to normal skin, you might want to consider applying highlighter. Or you can wait for your skin to oil up just like my skin to still get your “natural hightlight”. We don’t want to look flat.πŸ˜‰

Now the real question is… did this beat my ride or die Maybelline Powder Foundation? I have to say yes!!

First Impression: Ever Bilena Advance Shine Free Foundation in Almond

We took a break from reviews last week. It’s time to do another one. It’s under First Impression because I only used it for a short period. It’s my second time to post about a local/Filipino brand. I need more!!!☺

Ever Bilena is known for affordable makeup.Β We bought this for an event but didnt use it. It was just on the table. I decided to test this foundation. I loved their liquid concealer. I was curious if this will work too.

Description & Ingredients:

Php 145 (approx. $3)

Reminds me of marshmallow/vanilla

Dewy & semi-matte

-Very affordable
-Available at drugstores, watsons and supermarkets
-Simple plastic packaging
-Big enough, 30ml
-Little goes a long way
-Not cakey
-It doesnt feel heavy

-has comedogenic ingredients; stearic acid, parabens, mineral oil, dimethicone
-in my opinion, vanilla scent is okay for lipsticks and not for face products

It’s in a simple plastic tube which is nice. The only problem is the dispenser/hole is too big. Better be careful on squeezing out the product.

It’s liquidy and not cakey at all. It’s a little dewy, definitely not shine free. It wont be exaggerated if you’re using the right amount. It’s easy to remove so you have to set with powder even for dry skin.

It’s dewy because mineral oil is the second ingredient. Mineral oil can clog pores so I suggest using moisturizer and primer first. That way you have a barrier for your skin and makeup.

It reminds me of most bb creams. It has sheer/light coverage. For full coverage peeps like me, this is not for us. It can cover mild redness though. It’s slightly sticky but that’ll be gone after setting with powder.

Surprisingly, it’s lightweight and doesnt feel uncomfortable. It’s a good addition if you’re looking for something that adds glow. This is okay for those who dont need coverage, starting with makeup or for no makeup look.

Review + Before & After: Pink Sugar Our Lil Secret Concealer in Light Medium

I wanted to get this concealer for so long. It’s raved by pinay bloggers. They said it’s full coverage and that’s I want. We all know thatΒ full coverage is my thing. I’d love any product that can cover my dark spots . And did I mention, Pink Sugar is a local/Philppine brand?

Delivers long-lasting full coverage; soothes and calms inflamed skin with cucumber fruit and chamomile extracts; nourishes with aloe vera and vitamins A, C, and E; applies smoothly and blends silkily

-Local brand
-Affordable, Php299 (approx. $6)
-Amount of product, 13ml
-Available in stores and online
-Simple packaging, reminds me of lipgloss tube
-Water-based & oil free
-Little goes a long way
-Doesn’t feel heavy on the skin
-Matte finish
-Lasts long
-Medium coverage for me

-BHA in it bothered me. Not sure if it caused my recent breakout.
-Sets fast. I find it difficult to dab/blend
-Comes in 4 shades only
-Can be cakey especially on the undereye
-Can accentuate pores

Before & After:imageOh parang tatlong maria lang no? Hahaha.πŸ˜‚

I’m sure it has only a little amount of BHA. I was bothered because I had purging/breakout before while using a BHA toner. Recently, I had a breakout. This concealer and the reformulated powder foundation were the only 2 things I’ve changed in my routine.

I got the 2nd lightest shade. It’s warm tone and realized later that it’s dark on me. Even the cool tone (01) is still dark on me. I didnt pick that because it’s not my undertone. This sets really fast so there’s no chance of mixing both colors.

Sorry if I had to put powder in the after photo. My powder fixes the color a little bit. I can only apply a thin second layer or else it’ll be obvious that it’s dark. So I can’t test it to its maximum coverage.

It’s thicker compared to usual tube concealers. I have oily skin and it can still look cakey on me. I dont use it on the undereye area. It can also accentuate pores. If you have big pores like me, apply a primer first on your forehead or sides of the nose before this. I won’t recommend it on the undereye area. It’s water-based so you might not like it if you have dry skin/patches.

Surprisingly, it doesn’t feel heavy and sticky at all. Looking at the ingredients, I’m assuming it’s oil-free and water based. This is a great concealer. It provides buildable coverage from medium to full. You’ll get 13ml for 299 pesos? I think it’s worth it. Sana lang damihan yung shades.😊

Oh btw, Happy Valentine’s Day to everyone!😊❀️

Review + Swatches: E.L.F. Eyebrow Lifter and Filler in Ivory/Light

When it comes to cruelty-free cosmetics, the first thing that comes to my mind is E.L.F. Cosmetics. I was actually looking for cruelty free brands in the department store where I bought this item. I think I only found 2 brands I’m 100% sure of.

I asked the SA if they have eyebrow pencil just like those retractable ones. She only showed this item. It’s definitely not retractable. My anxiety attacked so I didn’t bother to look at their kiosk. I just grabbed it then paid at the counter.πŸ˜“

Create polished and defined brows for a flawless fuller look! The ‘lift’ pencil’s sheer light-reflecting pigments act as an arch support under the brows to enhance and outline the shape for a more youthful and awakened look. While the ‘fill’ pencil shades in the eyebrow to blend in the natural shape, fill in any sparse areas and define the lines

C10-18 Triglycerides, Petrolatum, Synthetic Beeswax, Ceresin, Ricinus Communis (Castor) Seed Oil, Copernicia Cerifera (Carnauba) Wax, Hydrogenated Microcrystalline Wax, Diethylhexylcyclohexane, Bis-Diglyceryl Polyacyladipate-2, Isopropyl Myristate, Butylparaben, BHT. May Contain: Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891), Iron Oxides (CI 77491, CI 77492, CI 77499), Manganese Violet (CI 77742)

-Multifunction, I think the lifter can be used as concealer too.
-Easy to use
-Brow pencil glides easily & smoothly
-Brow pencil is easy to blend
-“Lifter” cleans up any mess/mistake on the sides
-Did not cause breakouts

-Quite expensive for me, for a brow product Php 259.75 ($5.50)
-The “lifter” is not as smooth as the brow pencil. Its consistency reminds me of stick concealers.
-Limited shades (SA only showed 3 colors)
-Needs to be sharpened

It’s easy to work with. The brow pencil is so smooth. It glides easily. I can line my brow the way I want to. The lifter works well with it as it creates clean/crisp edges for the brows. It has the same consistency of stick concealer. I’m guessing you can use it for that purpose too.

This is not waterproof that’s why it’s easy to remove if you’ve made a mistake. But, it lasts all day long for me even if I’m oily and sweaty. The downside is it needs to be sharpened. Good thing it comes with a sharpener. The SA showed 3 shades only; one that’s super duper black, mine which is soft dark gray and one that’s light brown. You need to swatch it first.

I’m not a makeup junkee but I really like this one. It was just an impulse buy last month and now I’m glad I bought it.😊

Have you tried anything from E.L.F Cosmetics? If so, did you like it?😊
