My 300 Peso ($6) Haul From BeautyMNL

19 Mar

Hello readers! I’ve been MIA these past few weeks but now I’m back with a haul. I’m a reviewer on BeautyMNL and earned some credits. I bought 5 products using the reward. I think I managed to get the most out of it. The technique here is to watch out for announcements about free shipping so you’ll be able to add more items on your cart.

Here are the five products that I got:

ZENUTRIENTS Balancing Tea Tree Soap

Description: Cleanses, purifies, and balances skin with acne-busting tea tree oil; leaves skin feeling refreshed and invigorated; made with the best blend of natural ingredients with no artificial additives

I’m about to run out of my current cleanser. I need new ones to try. Zenutrients has been in the market for quite some time now and is well-known local brand. I read all reviews about their tea tree soap. I know what to expect. As a realist, I have to look at the good and bad sides. I’ll find out if it’ll work for me after a month. It’s 100 grams for 88 pesos

LUX White Impress Body Wash

Description: Exquisitely created by Master Perfumer Nicole Mancini; features the sheer, sparkly notes of peach, apple, and bergamot; features a unique triple-action system containing natural mulberry extract and honey; enriched with minerals and antioxidants; leaves skin soft, smooth and more radiant

I’m going to give this to my sister. She’s into body wash. It’s a part of her de-stressing routine. I prefer the bestseller variant but it was sold out. White Impress is next to it based on the 4-star rating on the site. It’s 220ml for 120 pesos.

JERGENS Mild Soap

Description: Softly cleanses with a rich lather that won’t strip away essential moisture; all-natural formula is safe for sensitive pelts; refreshes and rejuvenates with a light fragrance for a silky, supple feel

My current cleanser for contact dermatitis was prescribed by my dermatologist. I read its ingredients list and honestly I dont think it has enough cleansing properties. But it doesn’t break me out which is surprising. It’s quite pricey though and I needed an alternative. Jergens Mild Soap has similar ingredients. It’s 135 grams for 36 pesos only. The price can’t be beaten.

CARONIA Green Tea Hand Sanitizer

Description: Purifies skin by killing 99.9% of germs; nourishes and moisturizes the hands; leaves behind a hydrated feeling.

I wash my hands like crazy! Minimum of 10 times daily. Yes, I know I’m “OC”. It’s uncomfortable for me if I can’t wash my hands when I’m out of the house. I want a little sanitizer or alcohol that I can carry in my bag. I got Caronia’s 50ml hand sanitizer for 35 pesos only. I chose Green Tea because well… I like green tea. There are other variants like Lavender, Eucalyptus and Watermelon.

SWAN Royalex Round Latex Sponge in Pink

Description: Flat shape and rounded edge allows for seamless makeup application even in hard-to-reach spots; travel-friendly size.

I had 23 pesos left in my credits. Sinagad ko na. I found this 20-peso sponge. I’ve always had white ones. Actually I bought it because of the colors. It’s available in purple, green, orange, blue, pink, light pink and Red. I chose pink because it’s the cutest in my opinion. I think you can use it for liquid, baking and powder foundation.

Review: LUSH Tea Tree Water Toner

2 Jan

First review for this year. It has to be skin care… Because I love skin care so much. I’ve been obsessed with my LUSH routine. I finished up my Wonder Pore and this product’s next in line. I’m using this toner for a month already.

image.jpg

DESCRIPTION:
Oily, dull or tired skin brightens up with a routine spritz of Tea Tree Water. Cleansing tea tree, juniper berry and grapefruit waters keep skin looking fresh and balance skin tone. Light and refreshing Tea Tree Water reduces redness and clears excess oil without drying so you can put your best face forward.

INGREDIENTS:
Tea Tree Water (Melaleuca alternifolia), Grapefruit Water (Citrus Paradisi), Juniperberry Water (Juniperus communis), *Limonene, Fragrance, Methylparaben.

PROS:
-Cruelty-free
-Affordable; Php 325 for 100ml & Php 625 for 250ml
-Short list of ingredients
-Has tea tree, grapefruit and juniper berry water which are antiseptic
-Alcohol-free
-Multifunction; toner, mist and setting spray
-Mattifying
-Slightly helps to control my oiliness
-Did not cause breakouts

CONS:
-Has paraben & perfume
-Might not provide enough hydration

Other people use this as makeup setting spray. It’s because of the mattifying effect. I don’t do that because it’s still skin care. Skin care products are supposed to go inside the pores.

My cleanser is drying and this toner doesn’t provide enough hydration if I use it directly on a cotton ball alone. What I like to do is spritz it on my face and let it soak in for a while. After that, I spray some on cotton ball(s) and swipe it on my skin. This method gives me hydration while toning.

Overall, I like it because it freshens, hydrates and mattifies my skin. I found that my makeup holds on better and a lot longer when I started to use this toner. Little goes a long way so it’s reasonably priced and cruelty-free too! 😊

Review: LUSH Grease Lightning / Vanishing Act

28 Nov

I’m back with another spot treatment. This time it’s from Lush. I’ve been addicted to the brand lately. The evidence is on my Instagram.πŸ˜‚

Acne-prone lushies love Grease Lightning. I went in the store and got myself a bottle of it. I found out it’s called Vanishing Act here and I dont know why they have a different name for it. But no worries, it has same ingredients.

image

Description:
Cleanse and soften upset skin with a gentle herbal infusion of thyme, tea tree and rosemary. This super effective spot cleansing gel makes easy work of problematic dirt and oil, and a calming blend of organic aloe vera gel and grape juice soothes and calms irritated skin. Dab on any problem areas, wait a tick, and your skin will feel clean and refreshed in no time.

Ingredients:
Thyme, Rosemary and Tea Tree Infusion, Water (Aqua), Fair Trade Organic Aloe Vera Gel, Fresh Sea Water, Grape Juice, Carrageenan Extract, Lavender Oil, Witch Hazel Extract, Limonene, Perfume, Methylparaben

image

Pros:
– Affordable, Php 495 ($10) for 45g
– Little goes a long way
– Contains a lot of anti acne ingredients: Thyme, Rosemary extract, Tea Tree, Aloe Vera, Witch Hazel, Lavender, Sea Water & Grape Juice
– Little or no sting at all
– Leaves light spots only once blemishes are gone
– Good oil control for my nose area
– Helps to dry or make cystic acne into a whitehead/ that thing with yellow stuff within a week
– Some cystic acne are gone within a week
– Helps to dry out small blemishes after first use

Cons:
– The pump is stiff. It dispenses a lot of product.
– Has paraben & a comedogenic ingredient: Carrageenan
– Can leave a little shiny film if dabbed on a spot.

You wont get a shiny film if you spread it around like a moisturizer. But I prefer to put it on the blemish w/o patting it just like other spot treatments. I find that it’s more effective. I don’t mind the film it leaves.

I applied this on small blemishes at night and most of them are gone when I woke up in the morning. Some of my cystic acne are dried up within a week. The others took more than 7 days. At least they don’t stay for a long time anymore. πŸ™‚

Overall, I love this. It’s effective for me. It’s packed with anti-acne ingredients and the price is worth it. 45g will last a long time. It’s a great support. I use Fresh Farmacy & Mask of Mag too and they work well as a team. This will definitely be on my second post for Top 5 Spot Treatments.

My LUSH Cosmetics Wish List

21 Aug

I was browsing Lush’s website for a few days so I went to their store last tuesday. I thought I should make a wish list for this brand. I hope you’ll enjoy this and comment your opinion especially those who have already tried these goodies. πŸ™‚

image

1. Cosmetic Warrior
It has lots of anti acne ingredients and no irritants. My mission when I went to their store was to buy this mask. Unfortunately Lush in our country doesnt have a lab/factory to make their fresh masks. πŸ’” I ended up buying my first love, Fresh Farmacy. It makes me a little sad that I live here. Now I want to work abroad. πŸ˜‚ UK, EU, US, Canada, Japan, Singapore and Korea carry this mask. I’ll probably ask my aunt & brother to get this for me when they return from KR, SG & Japan this year and next year. It doesnt have any preservatives so it expires quickly. Aunt and bro, please buy this on the day before your flight to make sure it’s fresh. 😭✌🏻️
image

2. Mask of Magnaminty
They recommended this to me instead. I heard lots of positive feedbacks on this one too. I’m not familiar with its ingredients. I’ll get the 120-gram tub first to test if it will irritate my skin.
image

3. Eau Roma Water
I know there are lots of rose water toners out there. But this one from lush has few ingredients. I used to think toners are just for removing excess dirt. And later found out toners also prep the skin for moisture. Can be used as toner or mist.
image

4. Herbalism
Welp, this is one of the few cleansers in the market with few ingredients. It’s specifically for oily and blemish prone skin. It doesnt dry out the skin according to reviewers. That’s a plus for me because my cleansers are usually drying.
image

5. Tea Tree Water
This product focuses on tea tree. It can also be used as a toner or mist through out the day. It’s really affordable too. What’s holding me back in buying this is its greasy feel according to some reviewers. I have to take a look on its sample bottle when I return to their store and see if it’s really greasy.

There you have it. What’s on your wishlist? Share them below. πŸ™‚

I’ve mentioned that I ended up buying Fresh Farmacy which is my first love. I already reviewed it few years ago. I think that was in 2011. I’ll do an updated review on it soon! πŸ˜‰

Review: LJH Tea Tree 90 Essence

18 Apr

Hello! Im back with another review after a month. I went on a little hiatus because I got sick. I should’ve done this review before but it felt like I needed to use this longer before I could share my thoughts with you. I preordered this last February and got it last month. It’s fine with me though. I was searching for a moisturizer because I noticed that I was breaking out without any moisturizer. I’ve seen this product on Memebox. It’s the best seller and read a lot of positive reviews.

Here’s the packaging: it’s wider compared to other cosmetic bottles. ljh

What is it? An age-old remedy for a spectrum of skin conditions including acne and eczema, tea tree oil reduces redness, soothes, and rejuvinates the skin. Formulated with 90% natural tea tree extract, you can feel its power of revitalization as Tea Tree 90 Essence alleviates uneven skin tone, minimizes redness, refreshes the skin, and improves overall complexion. With over 800x more Vitamin C than an apple, your skin will thank you for the invigorating treatment that leaves it rejuvinated and radiant.

What it looks like: it’s just clear and runny liquid ljh2

Swatches: ljh3Pros:

  • Β 50ml is huge
  • I like that its bottle is wider. I put this on the bed while Im applying and no spill!
  • I love the scent. (My sister find it weird but I guess I got used to the scent of tea tree)
  • Its consistency is pretty nice
  • Watery which is fully absorbed by the skin in seconds
  • Doesn’t make my skin oilier
  • Doesn’t leave film texture
  • Did not cause breakouts
  • Helped to prevent breakouts while Im on vacation

Cons:

  • Not available locally. But no problem if you’re an online shopper. You can preorder it from korean cosmetics sellers.
  • No brightening
  • No improvement on existing pimple
  • Description and ingredients dont have english translation (have to search for them online)

You can give this a try especially if you have no acne or you just have mild acne. You’ll even love it if it will work well for you. Good news, I will be reviewing products again every weekend. Next saturday, I’ll be posting my Birthday Haul which includes brands that you might have never heard or seen before.

Review: The Body Shop Tea Tree Skin Clearing Toner

25 Jan

Good evening everyone. Tonight’s review is about my current toner. I really wanted to try products from their Tea Tree range even before. I just didn’t buy because I find them expensive. The Body Shop had a buy 1 take 1 promo on all their products last Dec 2014. You get to pay the item with the higher price. I took advantage of it. I bought this with the facial wash and paid for the price of this toner. πŸ™‚

What is it?
This refreshing toner for blemished skin gives a beautifully matte, shine-free finish.
Removes traces of make-up, cleanser and impurities
Mattifying powders leave skin shine-free
Clinically proven to give clearer-looking skin
