My Top 5 Toners for Oily Skin

19 Feb

Continuing our series with oily skin toners. The products in this list are mostly drugstore prices. You can find something that will fit your budget for sure. Range is from 85 pesos to 895 pesos. Skin care doesn’t have to be expensive. You just have to find the perfect match for your skin.

T.N. Dickinson’s Witch Hazel

dickinsons-cleansing-whichhazel

I havent posted a full review on this yet. But I like it so much that it became the top 1. It’s pure witch hazel, no other additional ingredients. According to webMD: “Witch hazel leaf extract, bark extract, and witch hazel water are used as astringents to tighten the skin. They are also included in some medications to give those products the ability to slow down or stop bleeding. Those medications are used for treating insect bites, stings, teething, hemorrhoids, itching, irritations, and minor pain.” It helps to control my breakouts. No sting, non drying and no sticky film. I recommend it for all skin types. 59ml bottle is priced at 85 pesos. There’s a huge bottle but I forgot to check the price. Both sizes are vailable at Healthy Options branches.

Etude House Wonder Pore Freshner

image

I have bought this twice. It claims to maintain skin’s PH balance. I observed that it’s not drying although it has alcohol. It won’t leave film. It didnt control breakouts but I like how my skin feels so clean after this step. Others are using this as facial mist. Just put some in a spray bottle. Its pore minimizing only lasts for a few minutes up to an hour for me. I usually get the 250ml and it lasts for 4 to 5 months. You can get this at Etude House branches. 250ml for 548 pesos while 500ml is at 898 pesos.

Celeteque Hydration Alcohol Free Toner

image

I forgot how many times I’ve finished up a bottle of this. This was my go-to toner when I still had moderate breakouts. I also buy this when I’m on a tight budget. Haha! It also has witch hazel. It feels like it gives off a film. Don’t worry it will only last for a few seconds. It feels like I dont have to apply moisturizer anymore after this. But I still do anyway just to be sure. You can get it at supermarkets, drugstores and department stores. 65 ml for 80 pesos and 120 ml is at 129 pesos

Lush Tea Tree Water Toner

image

You guys know I’m a lushie. This toner is made of Tea Tree Water, Grapefruit Water, Juniperberry Water. It’s alcohol free as well. It wont provide hydration alone and no film. So I like to spray it on my face first and then spray again on a cotton ball. It is really mattifying. It controls oil and my makeup holds longer when I use this toner. Others are using it as a setting spray. You can get this at Lush stores in Metro Manila. Php 325 for 100ml & Php 625 for 250ml.

The Body Shop Tea Tree Skin Clearing Toner

tea-tree-skin-clearing-toner_l

I got a bottle when it was on sale. It has tea tree scent which I love. I find it relaxing. It also controlled my breakouts. You have to shake it first because there’s powder at the bottom. That powder helps in mattifying skin. I recommend trying their tea tree line when they’re on BOGO (Buy One Get One) sale. It usually happens in Christmas season. You can get this at The Body Shop branches & kiosks. 250ml for 650 pesos

My Top 5 Makeup Removers

18 Feb

I’ve been doing reviews since this year has started. Honestly, I’m already getting tired of it. So we’ll do the Top 5 series this week. I’ve tried a lot of makeup removers since I got into skin care. I have extremely oily and sensitive skin that’s prone to breakouts. I’m skeptical to use new products. Most of them are okay and some became my favorite. For the past six years, here are the products I’d gladly repurchase.

Skinlite Make-up Cleansing Tissues

image

I’m using this for 2 years now since I couldn’t find Purederm’s Acne Cleansing Wipes. It has green tea, chamomile, sage,  lavender, rosemary, aloe, ginseng and allantoin for cleansing. Its size, texture and performance are the same with Purederm’s. No breakouts too. I usually get mine in the beauty section of Landmark Makati. 30 sheets for Php 89

Etude House Every Month Cleansing Tissues

image

This has many cleansing ingredients too. It’s packed with broccoli, tea tree, garlic, camellia leaf, apple, rice bran, aloe, avocado, blueberry, oatmeal, spinach, cucumber, walnut & wine extracts. What I like most about it is its size. It’s bigger compared to other makeup wipes. One sheet is actually big for my full face makeup. I could get the most out of it and remove everything. Available at your local Etude House branches and kiosks. 15 sheets for Php 128 / 50 sheets for Php 248

Purederm Acne-Cleansing Wipes

image

I think this is phased out already but this was my first ever favorite. The cloths are moist enough to remove my full face makeup. It had no specific scent in my opinion. I was using this when I had many breakouts. It did not aggravate my acne. I remember this was under 100 pesos too.

Loreal Refreshing Micellar Water

img_1979

My first micellar water. It has minimal ingredients. It really feels refreshing while you’re wiping off makeup. It feels like I’ve already washed my face. No sticky feeling. It says no need to rinse but I still proceed to my face wash and other steps because we can’t skip those. I didn’t break out while using this. This is good for 6 months use after opening. 250ml for Php 225

Etude House Real Art Cleansing Oil – Moisture

images

Cleansing oils are for heavy duty makeup. I’ve only used one and it’s from Etude House. I followed the instructions after I posted my full review on this. The results were better. My makeup melted away plus it foams up when rinsed with water. It added moisture to my skin. A great prep step especially if you’re using a drying face wash. Little goes a long way. It has a light lemon scent. It did not cause breakouts. 185ml for Php 848

Review + Swatches: Tony Moly Delight Magic Lip Tint in 03

12 Feb

It’s been a while since I talked about Tony Moly. This was the second korean brand that I got hooked with. I’ve always wanted to try their lip tints. My sister gave me one in 03 Red Berry. Yes, again. She’s really not into these colors. Haha! Welp, more for me! This will be a quick review since there isn’t ,uch to talk about lip tints in general.😛

image

Description:
A clear gel-type tint moistures the lips with the ingredient extracted from the berries and turns your lip color into a gorgeous deep pink after putting on.

image

Pros:
– Cute packaging
– Smells like berry
– Affordable, 228 pesos
– Did not cause dryness
– Long lasting

Cons:
– Quite sticky

Swatch:image

There are many reasons why it’s one of their bestsellers. It has a simple but cute packaging. We cant analyze the ingredients. I couldn’t find the ingredients list on their website. It smells good and I want to eat it. Haha! It’s affordable and long lasting. I swatched it on my arm and tried to remove it with running water. I had to rub it and use a cloth. It adds a little moisture so it did not cause chapped lips. The only con I have for this is it’s quite sticky. I think it helps with longevity. I recommend it for everyday use. This is for any occassion especially if you want a gift under 500 pesos.☺

Review: SKIN FOOD Yuja Water Whitening Ampoule in Serum

7 Jan

Yuja Water is one of Skin Food’s releases last year. I was looking for a serum that isn’t too strong and can freshen up my face. I have big hopes for this that it won’t trigger my contact dermatitis. I’m using this for two months now. It’s about time to review it.

image

Description:
Whitening synergy ampoule. Contains yuja extract and moisturizing yuja oil from uncontaminated Goheung city. Moisturizing whitening synergy ampoule effective for treating freckles. After toner application, massage 1 to 2 drops on the entire face by popping the capsules.

Ingredients:

image

Pros:
– Affordable, got it on sale for less than 1000 pesos from a korean-based store
– Available through online shops and at their local branches in PH
– A bottle contains 44ml of product
– Lemon scent
– Watery consistency
– Did not trigger my contact dermatitis
– Gives light hydration
– No stickiness
– Quickly absorbed
– Did not cause breakouts
– Brightening effect for glowing skin

Cons:
– Slow in whitening

image

There’s no ingredients list on the label. I just searched it on CosDNA and the photo above is the result. This is in my Best Products of 2016 for many reasons. First, I love serums with watery consistency. It gives my oily skin enough hydration. No sticky film so it’s easy for me to apply makeup after.

Second, it doesnt break me out. Only few moisturizers do not make my skin irritated. Third, it’s a brightening serum which helps me to get that glowing skin. Expect that it’s slower to lighten dark spots. That’s the only con if you’re dealing with hyperpigmentation. It’s confusing because there’s “whitening” in its name but description on their website says it’s for brightening.

I still think it’s one of the best moisturizers I’ve tried. I rarely finish creams and serums but I’m sure with this one. I’ll use it all up because it does not cause breakouts and gives enough hydration for me. I’d recommend it to normal to oily skin.

Best Products I’ve Used in 2016

30 Dec

This is a combined post for skin/body care, makeup and fragrance. I’m posting reviews weekly for 1 year straight. It’s always trial and error. Some are hits and some are misses. It took a while to sort and add them to this list because I’ve used tons of products this year. I selected the ones that gave quick results and ones I kept using.

Skin Care

SKINLITE Makeup Cleansing Tissues
I keep coming back to this makeup remover. It’s below Php 100 only for 30 sheets. Good for one month. It’s accessible for me too. I get mine in Landmark Makati. You can find it in the Hair and Accessories section. It’s on a shelf with other wet facial tissues and cotton.

LOREAL Refreshing Micellar Water
Loreal’s makeup remover made it in my list. First, it’s affordable too for Php 225. Second, it’s really refreshing. You can feel it instantly in the first swipe. It’s available in-stores at Loreal counters in department stores. You can also get it online on BeautyMNL.

AZTEC SECRET Amazonian Healing Clay
I immediately saw its effectiveness after one use. No kidding. I woke up the next day with majority of my breakouts were reduced and about to be dry. You can get this powerful mask at Healthy Options in the Philippines. It’s around Php 429. You can order it online on Aztec Secret’s official website.

VASELINE Lip Therapy Advanced Healing
This lip product is powerful. Probably because it contains 100% petroleum jelly. It’s in a hygenic tube. You can easily apply it just like a normal lip gloss. There’s no mess and you can bring it anywhere. If I can remember, it costs Php 69.75 in Landmark department store.

Beta-N Cream
This was prescribe by my dermatologist. I had contact dermatitis caused by using kojic acid soap on my face. This cream gave instant relief and hydrated my irritated flakey skin. My skin started getting back to normal after using this twice a day for 3 days. I used this for 10 days together with antihistamine, an oral medication.

SKIN FOOD Yuja Water Ampoule in Serum
I ordered it straight from Korea. This serum made it on the list because it’s one of the few serums that dont cause breakouts. It contains 30% yuja extract. The highest concentration in the line. No sting and feels light on the skin too. Full review soon!

ORGANIC ALLEY Argan Oil
I had second thoughts if I should include it because I just got it this month. But I like how it makes my skin glow. I apply it twice a day around my eye area, cheek bones and temples. The glow can be seen even under my makeup. No need for highlighters. I’ll do a full review soon. I still have a lot to say about this product.

Makeup

DETAIL MAKEOVER Mineral Pressed Powder
This beat my all time favorite Maybelline Clear Smooth All in One Powder Foundation when it comes to staying matte. It’s also affordable. 199 pesos for 10g. Aside from that, their Fair shade suits my skin tone perfectly. You can get this at their kiosks or on BeautyMNL.

CATRICE Eyebrow Stylist
I wasnt impressed with this at first. It’s not long lasting for others. But for me, it lasts throughout the day. I can easily shape and fill in my brows with this. I think I’m finally mastering my brows. Haha. It’s 278 pesos, quite expensive for a brow pencil… but it’s longer compared to othets which can last for months.

Fragrance

image

BENCH Bambino
I bought this cologne again after a long time. This has been my favorite since I was in high school. It’s affordable and long lasting. A small bottle is around 85 pesos while the big one is 135 pesos.

Body Care

DOVE Purely Pampering Shea Butter Beauty Bar
I usually dont like Dove products because they leave film. My sister got me hooked with their Shea Butter variant. It smells amazing! It’s been cold lately and my skin needs additional moisture. It’s cheap too. It’s priced at 55 pesos.

Review: Yadah Anti Trouble Bubble Cleanser

10 Dec

We’re back at it again with a review! This is one of recent cleansers. I found out about Yadah when I was strolling in a Beauty Bar store. This korean brand has skin care and  makeup. I got to know more about it through local bloggers.

img_20161210_215809

I told you guys before that I had a massive breakout again. I finally know the reason. It’s the Vitamin D supplement that I was taking.  I stopped it and switched to plain Vitamin C tablets. Other causes were Vitamin B and Zinc.

And that being said I need to minimize the disaster. After researching about the ingredients of this bubble cleanser, I decided to buy one.

Description and Ingredients:
image-1

Pros:
-Available in-stores at Beauty Bar and online
-Affordable, around Php 625
-100ml is big enough
-Few ingredients means less risk of irritation
-Has Salicylic Acid, Aloe, Chamomile,  Rosemary and Sage extracts for calming and antibacterial
-Doesn’t sting my eyes
-One pump is enough for me
-No tightness and doesnt dry out my oily skin, not moisturizing but it’s not drying

Cons:
-Cocamidropropyl Betaine is a possible irritant

Neutral:
-Lemon scent once your spreading it but it wont leave any smell once it’s rinsed off.

How it looks like:
image-2

Overall, I’m very satisfied with this cleanser. It has great number of antibacterial extracts. Cocamidropropyl Betaine is the only risky ingredient. It makes the product foam up. Just be careful as some people are irritated to it.

As for minimizing breakouts, I think it did a good job. I did not have new blemishes while I was still using it. I cant promise you that it will prevent breakouts completely. You might think 100ml wont last long for a foam cleanser. I’m using this for 3 weeks and I’m not even halfway through. I think it’s super sulit considering it has my favorite calming ingredients.

November 2016 Haul: Yadah, SKINFOOD, Aztec Secret, THE FACE SHOP, Vaseline, Loreal

3 Dec

Hi readers! I apologize again for being inactive. I’m currently using new skin care. I broke out again and needed to change my old routine. They take time, 1 to 2 months before I can post reviews. I’ve already reviewed three products in this haul.

img_20161203_171618

Yadah Anti-Trouble Bubble Foam (100 ml) – Php 625
Yadah is a korean brand. I found out about it through local bloggers. They have skin care and makeup. I searched the ingredients of this and I must say they’re better than most drugstore and high end anti-acne cleansers out there. I’m using it for almost 3 weeks now. I’ll post my review when I reach the 4th week. This is available at all Beauty Bar branches.

SKINFOOD Yuja Water Ampoule in Serum (42 ml) – Php 900
Yuja Water is the latest line of Skin Food. I chose the serum type because I want my moisturizer to be watery and quickly absorbed. This has 30% concentration, highest compared to the other products in this line. I’m using this for 2 week now. I preordered this when it was on sale.

Aztec Secret Indian Healing Clay Mask (400 g) – Php 435
This mask is raved by skin care enthusiasts here in our country. They mix it with apple cider vinegar. I prefer plain water. I think ACV might be too harsh on my sensitive skin. I’m using it once a week. It’s very affordable. The tub is huge! And can last for a long time. It’s available at all Healthy Options stores as well as the Bragg ACV.

THE FACE SHOP Herb Day Cleansing Tissues (20 sheets) – Php 125
We ran out of makeup remover. I usually buy our makeup remover in department stores. It was out of our way. We went to High Street for dinner. The only option I can think of was The Face Shop. Full review here

Vaseline Lip Therapy Advanced Healing (10 g) – Php 69.75
An impulse buy that I’m thankful for. It’s the best lip moisturizer in my opinion. It instantly hydrates and chapped lips are gone in few minutes. It’s in a hygenic tube packaging. You can bring it anywhere. Full review here

Loreal True Match Liquid Concealer (7 g) – Php 300
This is my 2nd tube. I like that it’s lightweight and blends easily. It’s liquidy so expect that it’ll only give light coverage. I got it on sale for 300 pesos. Original price is 400 pesos. Once I’m done, I’ll try Covergirl’s Ready Set Gorgeous Liquid Concealer. Full review here

So what’s in your haul last month? Have you started your Christmas shopping? 🙂
