Review: A’BLOOM BHA Blackhead Blaster, Face Masks and Meringue Puffs

Review: A’BLOOM BHA Blackhead Blaster, Face Masks and Meringue Puffs

Hello readers! It’s been a while since I reviewed korean skin care. I’m still healing but I’m slowly using different products again. I received a package last month and it’s from A’BLOOM. It’s an exclusive brand from Althea. I was excited to try the blackhead balm out of all the product in the box. I’m using them for 2 weeks now and here are my experiences.

BHA Blackhead Blaster

Blackhead out without the ouch

HOW TO USE: After cleansing, apply onto targeted areas with excessive sebum. Gently massage in circular motions to release trapped oil and dirt. Rinse of with lukewarm waterThis blackhead balm has white willow bark extract (natural BHA), charcoal, apricot seed and tea tree oil. I’ve used this for a couple of times already on my nose area. It’s not as sensitive as other parts of my face. I was pretty confident to try this on that area since this product is free of artificial fragrance. First thing I noticed was the cooling effect while I’m swirling it around. I believe it’s the tea tree oil in it. I’m actually amazed how it removed the majority of my blackheads. The remaining spots are easier to push out compared to using  a remover tool alone. My nose looked clean and smooth after rinsing with lukewarm water. It exfoliates without being harsh. It doesn’t leave any redness even though I have hypersensitive skin. This can also be used on other parts of the face or body where you’re prone to blackheads or if you just feel the need to exfoliate. Best of all, it’s only 200 pesos.

Giant and Baby Meringue Puffs

High density latex-free foams

HOW TO USE: Use it dry for extra coverage or use it wet for dewy effect and a subtle finish. These puffs should be replaced every 1 to 3 months.

The Giant Meringue Puff is used for big areas while the Baby Puff is for hard to reach areas. They’re really soft and cute too. They made my makeup application smoother. There’s also less visible pores compared with finger application or a stippling brush. My foundation did not look cakey as it did not sit on top. It was set beautifully and clung to my skin that increased the longevity. The giant puff saved me some time to apply foundation for the whole face. I really like the baby puff for my eyelids, undereye and sides of my nose and mouth. It’s bothersome when the lashes have some foundation. I didn’t need mascara to clean my lashes when I used baby puff around my eyes. They are latex-free and did not trigger my contact dermatitis.

They all expand when it comes in contact with water. But when you let them dry after cleaning, they return back to normal size.

The only downside with these puffs for me is the cleaning part. I find it difficult to remove the stains. As you can see the set above, the other puff still has a stain of my foundation. I cleaned them with a cleansing foam which I also use for my brushes. My foundation is liquid-y and sets in quickly so that might also be a factor.

Giant Puff is 100 pesos while the Baby Puff Set is 140 pesos. They should be replaced 1 to 3 months depending on how often you use them. It’s nice that they included that info for hygiene purposes.

Face Masks

Avocado is for nourishing, Lemon Lime for brightening, Watermelon for moisturizing and Peach for anti-blemish. Can I just say I love puns and the name Avo-Cuddle Me is so cute! These masks are made from eucalyptus tree. It’s eco friendly and safe to use on the skin. It’s important to know where the sheets are made from especially if you have sensitive skin. The mask is thin that you could still see your own skin underneath. My sister is loving this routine right now. She used Peach and she said there was no stinging sensation. The mask is filled with serum so it’s very moisturizing and calming. She didn’t have any irritation. It’s 20 pesos each and you can get a set of 10 for 180 pesos.

Overall, my sis and I are satisfied with everything we’ve tested. BHA Blackhead Blaster is now a part of my simple routine. I’ll be adding it in my next Althea order. Their face masks are hoarded by customers. A’BLOOM has a good start with this impressive collection. I’m looking forward to their releases in the future. These are available on Althea’s website and mobile app.

Review: Althea Milk Peel Cream Mask

Review: Althea Milk Peel Cream Mask

Hello readers! You’ve probably heard about this product already. I’ve been trying it for a while and I’m ready to share my thoughts. Althea has been releasing unique products lately. I’m glad to try them out for you guys! This was sent to me but as always, everything is based on my sensitive skin’s experience.

It’s also formulated with casein protein from milk to revitalize and moisturize the skin. The result is radiantly smooth, healthy skin that’s bouncy to the touch!

How to use:
Dampen the skin and apply an even layer onto the skin, massaging till a rich lather forms. Leave on for 30-60 seconds before rinsing away with warm water.

Pros:
– Fairly priced at ₱ 490 on Althea’s website/app
– Innovative
– Multifunctional, mask pack and cleanser
– Lightweight
– Gives hydration
– Brightens skin after rinsing
– Skin is soft to touch
– Smoothening

Cons:
– Fragrance is strong for me

This mask to cleanser product is innovative. Perfect for those who want to save time or for those who still want to step up their skin care game. Not everyone has the time to use tons of products, right? It has this thick creamy texture. Surprisingly, it feels light and doesn’t feel hot either. Skin is brighter after using. It’s probably the milk protein in it. Milk usually do that based on previous products I’ve tried. My skin felt soft, smooth and hydrated as well. I’d still recommend to follow up with moisturizer after if you have dry skin.

IMG_20190228_122955.png

As you can see in the photos above, it just looks like cream from the start. Then it slightly lathers up after a few seconds. How cool is that? Since its fragrance is strong for me, I only use this on oily areas that are not sensitive. I lack exfoliation on those areas.

IMG_20190228_123005.png

Overall, this is good addition in a routine. It mildly exfoliates with AHA and BHA, doubles as mask and cleanser. It’s like a treat to yourself after a long day to bring back that fresh look. Milk is beneficial not just for the body. It’s also great as an ingredient for skin care. It’s nourishing, can strengthen and make skin feel baby soft.

Review: Althea Pore Purifying Serum Cleanser

Review: Althea Pore Purifying Serum Cleanser

I love the feeling of removing makeup after a long day. It’s like the skin could breathe again. When it comes to cleansing, the texture and feeling are very important to me. Last month, Althea sent their latest product.  Serum cleanser? That’s new to me. They’re really stepping up the skin care game. I was intrigued how simple it looks and if it will work wonders.

IMG_20190115_083205_533.jpg

Description:
A purifying cleanser with a serum-like formula. Removes makeup, dirt and oil without drying out the skin. Balances the pH levels of the skin to ensure it stays healthy

How to use:
Dampen the skin and apply on a small amount. Gently massage onto the skin in circular motions for 5-10 seconds before rinsing off with water.

Ingredients:
Water, Peg-7 Glyceryl Cocoate, Cyclomethicone, Isononyl Isononanoate, Dipropylene Glycol, 1,2-Hexanediol, Melaleuca Alternifolia (Tea Tree) Leaf Extract, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Mentha Arvensis Leaf Extract, Glycerin, Citric Acid, Hydroxyacetophenone, Disodium Edta, Ethylhexylglycerin, Sodium Citrate, Butylene Glycol, Fragrance

IMG_20190111_143410.jpg

Pros:
– Fairly priced, ₱ 430 for 150ml on their website
– Simple packaging
– Little goes a long way
– Non-drying
– Lightweight
– Effectively removes my makeup
– Doesn’t leave film or oily feeling

Cons:
– Has fragrance

I tested it on different methods. I swiped the cotton twice to remove makeup. I find that using it alone is better. It’s economical because there’s really no need for cotton. You’ll only need a few drops on your palms then gently go on the skin in circular motions. The makeup melted so easily! It felt hydrated, smooth and soft to touch after rinsing.

img_20190110_164946

It’s also easy to rinse with water. There’s no film, sticky nor oily residue at all. It felt like my skin’s already clean. I still used a second cleanser ’cause I prefer it that way. Others skip the second cleanse and they just proceed to toning right after.  The name itself describes the texture. It’s runny and light like a serum. It’s watery that I thought it won’t remove my full coverage makeup but it did! Doing circular motions helped to break down my makeup in a few seconds. Skin felt really fresh afterwards.

The only downside is it has fragrance like most korean cosmetics. It’s only a subtle scent though. I sure hope they’ll remove it or make another one that’s fragrance-free because I really like how it worked on my skin. This could’ve been a staple in my routine. This performed better than my sunflower oil. I’m going to give this a go again after my TSW. Overall, this is a great makeup remover. It removes makeup fast and no need to wash it off with cleanser or soap. All you’ll need is water. Great after a night out or for when you’re really tired or lazy but still want to take care of your skin. 😉

Review: Althea Petal Velvet Sunaway

Review: Althea Petal Velvet Sunaway

Last month, I received a package from Althea. It’s their first product for sun protection. I have been testing it out for almost two weeks now. You know me, I only post reviews once I completely tested out a product. 😉 I just known the importance of sunblocks when I started to have combination skin. Lately it’s cold in the morning and then it’s either hot or it rains after a few hours. It’s important to use products that are comfortable in different weather conditions like this.

IMG_20181116_160421.jpg

Description:
Give your skin the look and feel of soft flower petals with this moisture-filled, velvety sunscreen. Filled with premium Damask rose extracts, Althea’s Petal Velvet Sunaway uses advanced micro particle technology to protect the skin from UV rays while giving it a petal-like finish.

Ingredients:

WATER, CYCLOPENTASILOXANE, ZINC OXIDE, DISILOXANE, PROPANEDIOL, TITANIUM DIOXIDE, DICAPRYLYL ETHER, METHYL METHACRYLATE CROSSPOLYMER, PELARGONIUM GRAVEOLENS FLOWER OIL, SALVIA OFFICINALIS (SAGE) OIL, POGOSTEMON CABLIN OIL, CITRUS AURANTIUM BERGAMIA (BERGAMOT) FRUIT OIL, ROSA DAMASCENA FLOWER EXTRACT, PEG-10 DIMETHICONE, STEARIC ACID, ALUMINUM HYDROXIDE, VINYL DIMETHICONE/METHICONE SILSESQUIOXANE CROSSPOLYMER, SODIUM CHLORIDE, TRIETHOXYCAPRYLYLSILANE, 1,2-HEXANEDIOL, SORBITAN CAPRYLATE, GLYCERYL CAPRYLATE, POLYGLYCERYL-6 POLYRICINOLEATE, ETHYLHEXYLGLYCERIN, BUTYLENE GLYCOL, ETHYL HEXANEDIOL, CAPRYLYL GLYCOL

IMG_20181116_161845

Pros:
– Affordable, 55ml for 480 pesos on Althea
– Travel-friendly packaging
– SPF 50+ PA++++
– Lightweight
– Easily absorbed
– Gives hydration
– Makes skin look fresh
– Mattifying
– No flashbacks
– Stays on even when skin’s sweaty

Cons:
-Scent is too strong for me

The first thing I noticed was the packaging. It’s travel-friendly. It’s secured and no need to worry about any spillage. It also has a ball mixer inside like in spray paints so shaking the product won’t be time consuming. I skip my moisturizer because this alone provides enough hydration for the day. It’s easily absorbed and feels lightweight on the skin… Which is usually a problem for other sunblocks. I love its brightening effect. It’s not too much, just enough to make the skin look fresh. If you’re oily, you’ve experienced skin darkening at some point. This works well for that.

IMG_20181115_120032.png

I’m also impressed with its longevity. It stays on even if I sweat a lot. I didn’t feel the need to reapply throughout the day. But of course, you still have to reapply after every 2 hours if you’re staying under the sun for a long time. It doesn’t interfere with makeup application. It’s mattifying and actually helped my makeup to stay longer. It’s also fine for both hot and cold weathers.

IMG_20181115_120016

The collage above is a test for flash photography. The left photo has no product. I applied Sunaway in the right photo. It gives little to no flashbacks at all. Based on the ingredients, it doesn’t have any artificial fragrances. Which is a good thing but this has a powdery scent. I love that scent but this one is too strong for me. It goes away after a few minutes though.

Overall, this is a good product if you’re looking for something that’s light and long lasting while giving you maximum sun protection. It stays on even for sweaty skin. It can be used for all weather conditions since it gives hydration. This is very affordable and a 55ml tube will last for a long time. You can get this one on Althea and it’s also available in a set with their powder. 🙂

First Impression: Benton Tea Tree Cleansing Water

First Impression: Benton Tea Tree Cleansing Water

Hello readers! It’s been a while since I blogged about makeup remover. I usually go for remover wipes ’cause I’m that lazy. But I find that wipes can scratch and irritate the skin. So I’m on the search again for something that’s less harsh. I remembered that I still have samples from Benton. Out of all their products, Tea Tree Cleansing Water intrigued me the most.

IMG_20181115_125233

Description:
Infused with Tea Tree Leaf Water and Tea Tree Leaf Oil, this cleansing water mildly cleanses your skin, leaving skin refreshed and calm.

Ingredients:
Alternifolia (Tea Tree) Leaf Water, Water (Aqua), Dipropylene Glycol, Glycerin, 1,2-Hexanediol, Butylene Glycol, Melaleuca Alternifolia (Tea Tree) Leaf Oil, Polyglyceryl-6 Caprylate, Polyglyceryl-10 Laurate, Sodium Chloride

Pros:
– Fairly priced, $17 or approx. 850 pesos
– Fragrance-free
– Lightweight
– No oily or sticky residue
– Non-drying
– Quickly removes makeup
– Did not cause irritations
– Did not cause breakouts

Cons:
– None

They say that if your makeup is oil-based, you have to use an oil cleanser. And if not, you should use water-based remover. Although my makeup is oil-based, I prefer to use this because it’s refreshing. It doesn’t leave any sticky residue. It effectively removed my makeup in just a few swipes. For your reference, I used liquid foundation, concealer and powder foundation while I tested this for 3 days.

It didn’t dry out my skin even if it’s main ingredient is tea tree water. It’s also fragrance-free. That’s a plus for us with sensitive skin. I don’t have cons for this. Benton recommends this for oily and acne-prone skin. I used this when I still had oily skin and I must say it did not cause breakouts or irritations. It is just amazing!

Review: Aritaum Full Cover Liquid Concealer in 03 – 2017 Edition

Review: Aritaum Full Cover Liquid Concealer in 03 – 2017 Edition

Im back with a makeup review and it’s about my current favorite concealer. I got 03 Natural Beige. I usually pick natural beige but surprisingly this one’s dark on me. Read more to find out below what I like about it and how I can compare it to the original version.

IMG_20181018_120321

Description from Althea’s website:
It gets fixed on the skin smoothly and naturally covers the skin flaws without cakiness on the next step of makeup. The soft liquid texture covers broad and light blemishes and the tip type applicator covers even tiny areas on the face. The three colors can cover skin flaws naturally according to one’s own skin tone.

IMG_20181018_122940

Pros:

  • Affordable
  • Fragrance-free
  • Good for highlighting
  • Its finish is in between matte and dewy
  • Lightweight
  • Doesn’t accentuate pores
  • Covers redness really well
  • Covers most of my dark spots
  • Did not cause breakouts
  • Did not trigger my contact dermatitis

Cons:

  • Only available in few shades
  • No ingredients list on the packaging
  • Wears off easily for someone who sweats a lot like me
  • Can get cakey
  • Only 5 grams. Weight is obviously less than the original
  • Gives white cast for flash photography

Neutral:

  • Sets easily

Talking about the price, it’s very affordable. I got it on sale for 180 pesos only on Althea. The regular price is 220 pesos. I noticed that it doesn’t have a strong scent. I’m guessing it’s fragrance-free since it smells like the other foundations and concealers I’ve used before. It gives white cast and they made it for highlighting and contouring. The finish is in between matte and dewy. It just looks a bit like skin.

IMG_20181018_121322

It has light to medium coverage in my opinion. It’s lightweight and can completely cover redness and dark circles. This could be full coverage if that’s just your concern. Most of my spots are covered too. For other spots, I have to go back for a second layer. It did not cause breakouts and did not give me redness and itch. That’s good news for us with sensitive skin.

It does wear off easily if used alone. It sets quickly so you should apply it by areas instead of going on full face. It would be difficult to retouch or blend once it’s set. It can also get cakey if you dont blend it well. I like this one better than the original when it comes to texture and light feeling. It oxidizes on me and yes, I’m acidic. It’s ideal for day time and not for flash photography.

The original version is better when it comes to coverage and longevity. I doubt that they will go back to it because the old one almost had the same thickness as their Full Cover BB Cream.

Review: ROYAL SKIN 24K Gold Snail Soothing Gel

Review: ROYAL SKIN 24K Gold Snail Soothing Gel

This is the first moisturizer I reviewed this year. You know how much I loved snail products before. I’ve experienced its healing properties and I was blown away. I wanted to try it again and see if it still works on me. I got Royal Skin’s Soothing Gel in my past Althea haul. I chose it because it’s very affordable. I was hoping it could be a moisturizer for maintenance.

IMG_20181017_173731_985.jpg

Description:
It moisturizes and soothes sensitive and dry skin by external stimulation and maintains moist skin. Quick absorption without stickiness. Okay for infants! It excludes paraben, artificial color, benzophenone talc, mineral oil, silicone oil and animal substances. Multi-purpose gel for face and body.

IMG_20181017_173827

Pros:

  • Affordable, 150 pesos at Althea
  • A lot of product, 300 ml
  • Can be used on face and body
  • Absorbed easily
  • Gives enough hydration
  • Doesn’t interfere with makeup application and longevity
  • Did not make my skin oilier
  • Did not emphasize pores
  • Did not cause breakouts

Cons:

  • Product label at the bottom has no translation
  • Might contain alcohol and/or fragrance

Neutral:

  • Can make you look shiny if you use more than enough

I tested this for a week. I like how it’s easily absorbed in a few seconds. It hydrated my skin and smoothened out my dry patches. Some moisturizers can make my pores look bigger but this one didn’t. It didn’t interfere with makeup application and longevity. It actually made it last longer than usual. Makeup application was a breeze.  I also used this at night. I woke up without feeling like an oil slick. It did not cause breakouts, redness and no stinging. I also love to use it on the body especially after a hot day.

IMG_20181017_174258

The only con I could think of is the product label has no translation and there’s no ingredients list. You have to Google it. It might have alcohol and fragrance so watch out if you have sensitive skin. Since it’s gel type, it made my face look shiny when it’s used alone. There was no huge difference in healing breakouts in my case. It’s not surprising since it has only 30,000 ppm concentration. That’s 3% if you convert it to percent.

Final thoughts, this gel is okay as a maintenance. Meaning if you don’t have other issues aside from dehydrated skin. This will instantly hydrate skin without feeling heavy and oily. It’s refreshing especially if you put it in the fridge first.

Review: Klairs Soft Airy UV Essence

Review: Klairs Soft Airy UV Essence

Hi everyone, I’ve been MIA lately. I have a lot of skin care to test out, inside out including diets and products. But I’m back for more scheduled posts. Starting off with Klairs’ newest product, Soft Airy UV Essence. I received this two weeks ago and tried it immediately. They claim it’s a sun protector for sensitive skin. Continue reading to find out if it worked on my skin type.

IMG_20180930_182736.jpg

Description:IMG_20181001_141654.png

Ingredients:IMG_20181001_134950.png

IMG_20180930_143102.png

Pros:
– Free from artificial fragrance
– Simple plastic tube, great for travelling
– Easy to dispense
– Light texture
– Non-sticky
– Easily absorbed by the skin
– Did not cause breakouts
– Makeup glides smoothly
– Doesnt interfere with makeup longevity

Cons:
– Can be washed off if you sweat a lot like me

It’s hard to find a sunscreen that’s fragrance free. I felt relieved when I checked its ingredients list. The texture is like your usual essence. It’s lotion-y and easily absorbed by the skin. It’s not sticky which is surprising for a sunscreen. My skin felt well hydrated without making it oilier. It doesn’t have oily texture which you would normally get from others.

I used this under makeup. I observed that I have less texture when I apply this under foundation. The down side is it can be removed easily with sweat when used alone. But when used under makeup, it doesnt interfere with the longevity. It actually made my beat face even longer. It doesnt leave a white cast when I tested it using my phone.

IMG_20180930_143358.jpg

This is the second sunscreen that worked on my oily skin. I was afraid to try it since I usually get blemishes from SPF 50. But surprisingly, this did not cause breakouts and itch. It’s perfect for our hot and humid weather. This is ideal for those who are looking for sun protection that’s light and breathable and without artificial fragrance. Best of all it’s cruelty free and vegan.
