August 2016 Favorites

August is over and you know what that means…. our monthly favorites!😅 There’s not much skin care and cosmetics in this post. I’m saving them for full reviews for the coming weeks. Lately I’m more obsessed with Youtube and music.

Skin and Body Care

iWhite Korea Facial Wash
Been using this for the whole month of August. I’m taking a break from my favorite cleanser again. I was wandering at the personal care section in a supermarket. This is decent in my opinion compared to other brands there. I’m going to have a full review on this next week.

Dove Lemon Body Wash
A body wash with lemon-y scent. Perfect in the morning to wake me up and boost my mood. It’s non drying. It doesnt leave film unlike the Dove bar soap. I recommend using citrus scented bath products in the morning.

Makeup

Menow Kiss Proof
This lipstick has been my favorite for many months. I forgot which shade I got but it’s the perfect brown nude for me. It’s matte finish so you better moisturize before applying it. It lasts all day even when I eat and drink. It’s so affordable too. My sister got it for less than 150 pesos ($3). The only downside is it needs to be sharpened.

Catrice Eyebrow Stylist in 030

An impulse buy because I always feel pressured when a sales associate is near my personal space. Somehow I’m glad that I got one. I go ham on my brows especially if a pencil is waxy like the jumbo eyebrow pencil from E.L.F. This Catrice pencil is made of wax too but the application is light and natural. I’ll post a full review on this soon!

Fragrance

Bench Bambino It’s Safe For Me Cologne

It will always be my favorite. I’m using it since 2010 in high school. It has powdery / baby scent. It’s a fresh scent for me like a baby just had bath. I dont know how to describe it exactly so I got the description on their website.  A mixture of powder-floral fragrance with hints of fruits and sweet musky drydown. It lasts all day and it’s only below 200 pesos ($3). My classmates asked me what my perfume was. A friend actually bought one too.

Food

Reese’s Peanutbutter Cups
I eat a cup after dinner in moderation like once a week. It’s little treat. It’s like the Filipino chocnut but in bigger size.☺

Youtubers

Shane Dawson
I’m really into his conspiracy theories and trying out food menu. His conspiracy theories made me curious and sometimes they scare me. I like the 9/11 and Scary Plane Crashes. I like his food videos too because they’re always funny. One thing that really had me cracking up was the French Fry Challenge: link here

SariReanna
I’m still on a hunt for full coverage foundation. Sari Reanna has a lot of first impression videos on them. I like to watch youtubers with acne prone skin like me when it comes to foundation and concealer… because they have honest and accurate opinion. You can see if it has full coverage or not. Unlike those that dont even have a blemish claiming something’s full coverage. Like really?

Music

Green Day

Yup, their songs are still stuck in my head. Especially this month because they released a new single, Bang Bang. It’s on their Facebook page and Spotify. The rhythm reminds me of American Idiot and their older albums. That’s what I like!!! They have a new album and you can preorder it now. New album. I guess that means they’ll have a world tour…… hopefully Manila will be included. Pleaseeeee.

A1
We saw Backstreet Boys and Westlife. Our list is not yet complete but finally ticketnet announced A1 is coming back to Manila. I was waiting for them. I’m a fan since the late 90s. I was in kinder or grade school back then. We already bought tickets. We’re so excited to see them and hear their hits live!☺

The Chainsmokers
We saw them last August 19 and it’s one of the best out of all the EDM events we went to. What I like about their songs is you can dance and sing along to them. If you’re following me on Instagram, I’m sorry if I fangirled too much and for filling your newsfeed with photos and videos from that night.👍

It took a while for us to select these products. I combined them because I didnt want to make a short post. I use the same routine but I added new items. Products for sunburn and skin repairing. I also included my favorite food and music.

Skinlite Makeup Remover Wipes
Etude House Every Month Cleansing Tissue is always sold out in stores. This became my favorite. Purederm is its sister company. It has 30 sheets for 89 pesos ($2) only. How affordable is that? It removes my makeup with just one sheet. It’s in plastic packaging and box. You’re sure that they wont dry out. It’s always available in Landmark Department Stores.

SKQIN Dual Sissi Mask (Gold & Silver)
I felt that my skin wants extra hydration. These masks fit my face shape perfectly. It wont slide off. I can move freely. It moisturizes skin like a baby’s bum.

Gloria’s Lavender Soap
My sister bought a soap set during our Boracay trip. The first thing we used was the lavender soap. We’re using it until now that we’re back home. We are obsessed with lavender. Even our diffuser is in that scent.

Foodaholic Snail 100 Soothing Gel
This gel helped to soothe our sunburn. It calms the skin right away. Instantly, like few seconds after application. We use it for the whole body because it’s not sticky. No residue and it feels like we didnt apply anything.

My sister knows that I love snail. She saw me using TM’s line in 2011. She finally tried the magic of snail slime. Her sunburn and peeling on the face got better in just 2 days of using Foodaholic Snail Soothing Gel. She loves it now!

Rucy’s Vanity Whitening Lotion
I bought foundation and it matches my face skin tone. But my neck, chest, arms and legs became dark when we went to the beach. I’m using this lotion on my neck and chest. Hoping it would at least help to whiten those areas.

Most products in this post are for hydration. My skin felt super dry when we’re in the plane. Probably because of the pressure and lack of air. I could really feel it and it’s uncomfortable.

Food

Fries
I kept on eating fries these past few days. I know it’s unhealthy. I’m trying to control myself. I’m craving for Potato Corner’s cheese flavor and McDonald’s. Aaaah. So good!

Dunkin Donut Choco Butternut
My all time favorite donut. It’s just right and not too sweet. They said choco butternut is now in the premium line. It just got thicker. Nothing changed with its taste.

Green Day
I’ve been listening to Green Day songs lately….. as in everyday. Some of my favorites; Give Me Novacaine, Boulevard of Broken Dreams, American Idiot, Wake Me Up When September Ends, 21 Guns, Holiday, Good Riddance, Basket Case and the 9-minute song, Jesus of Suburbia. I grew up listening to them. I want to see them live someday. Their fans say they sound so good in live concerts. Punk rock will always have a special place in my heart. One of my most favorite genres.

Before anything else, this is my favorite chocolate brand. I gave some to the people I met during my internship and they were happy about it. This is the perfect gift for your friends and officemates. It’s very affordable! You can get these in a pack of 6.

Pepero 36g x 6 packs – 275 pesos
Who says you can only give and receive pepero every 11th of November? It’s a perfect gift for the whole family even for Christmas! Available in Cookie, White Almond and Original.

Lindt Lindor Truffle Heart Tin Swarovski – 314.50 pesos
I remember the first time I had a piece of Lindt. It’s one of the best chocolates I’ve ever eaten. The quality is so good. You’ll know when you’re tasting it. Plus who doesn’t want to receive chocolates in a heart-shaped case with swarovski touches? Very classy! 🙂

Lindt Irresistibly Smooth – 404.80 pesos for 200g
From the same brand but in boxes. You can choose from assorted or milk chocolate. The boxes are in red and gold which are holiday colors. 🙂

Ferrero Collection (15 pieces) – 362 pesos
Seriously guys, who doesn’t know Ferrero? It’s known for its yummy chocolate and eye-catching gold packaging.

TEA
Tea became a trend this year, with milk or just pure tea. There are tea shops opening in Manila. It has lower caffeine content compared to coffee depending on the type you choose. So why not try to make a tea at home? It’s a great at-home-spa treatment. It’s relaxing and detoxifying.

Teapigs – 325 pesos for 22.5g
Available in Pure Lemongrass, Early Grey, English Breakfast, Grean Tea with Mint and Chai tea. I have seen a lot of my favorite youtubers mention this brand in their favorites video including Zoella. Click here for more info.

I was addicted to cupcakes

I’ve been eating a lot of sweets two weeks ago. IDK why but cupcakes taste so good especially when you pair it with a cup of coffee. I cant stop eating! 😛

Here are some of the pics that I’ve taken this summer vacation.

My favorite cafe is Slice. It is located at Bonifacio High Street. They have another branch at the new mall in Global City which is SM Aura. (We’ll go there soon) This cafe is hard to beat especially their cupcakes! Cupcake stores have a lot of choices but some of them don’t taste good. 😛 Slice Cafe’s cupcake flavors are just right or should I say perfect?

“Eat Pray Love” night

Tonight’s a good night. My sister and I decided to order 10-inch New York’s Finest and our favorite Spaghetti And Meatballs. We found out that the movie we watched months ago which is “Eat Pray Love” will be aired tonight on HBO. We remembered there were lots of scenes where the main actress ate pizza, pasta and other yummy foods. So we didn’t worry about watching it again. We didn’t crave too coz we have our own foods. LOL. We enjoyed watching and eating. Another bonding moment with my sis. 😀

KFC Tower Burger

It’s my first time to eat KFC’s Tower Burger. This is so gooood! It’s kinda dry but it’s still yummy for me, next time I have to order fries and drinks with this one.

Dinner at Po Suk Jung Restaurant

This was my first time to eat at a Korean restaurant. We ordered Angus Beef (specialty of Po Suk Jung), Samgyeopsal, Bibimbap, Korean Pancake and Japchae or Korean glass noodles. The Angus Beef is my favorite, you can slice it without hassle because the meat’s really soft and juicy. The Japchae was flavorful, you dont need to add spices anymore. The samgyeopsal was really nice, you just have to experiment with the side dishes to find the perfect flavor. Wrap the vegetable with garlic and pork belly, you’ll love it. The korean pancake tastes like scrambled egg & it has some vegatables. I didnt like the Bibimbap because of the mushroom flavor. I really dont eat that kind of mushroom but our family members loved it. There’s a soup included if you’ll order Bibimbap. We just ordered five dishes but look our table was full of side dishes. The side dishes: some spicy noodles, fish, vegetables, baked egg (i loved it, it’s really soft), for dessert; green and red apples. The owner gave us free korean ice cream. That was a delicious dinner!

Po Suk Jung is located in Pasig City, near Valle Verde Country Club.
