Makeup Empties + Review Recap

I’m cleaning my makeup bag and I’m going to throw all used up and expired products. I dont know why I love to keep empty packagings. It’s like I’m attached to them. Is that weird? Haha. I decided to have a review recap just to see if my opinions change over time or I’d consider to repurchase them again.

Essence Superfine Eyeliner Pen
I remember using this once or twice only because it’s dry. Yes, it was already dry from my first swatch. It was difficult for me to create sharp wings. I expect drugstore items to work just as good as other brands. I wont repurchase this although it’s affordable. Old review here

Etude House Oh M Eye Line

My first ever liquid liner. I reviewed this last year. Good if you’re just practicing with ulzzang makeup. It crumbles and you wont have panda eyes if you made a mistake. I dont like the applicator. It’s like a thin sponge. Not a brush that’s why it’s also difficult to create sharp wings. I guess this is more for ulzzang liner. You know the one that isnt as sharp and doesn’t need much precise application. I wont repurchase this again simply because of its sponge applicator. Old review here

Pink Sugar Our Lil Secret Concealer
Local beauty bloggers were raving about this last year. I tried this and I expected so much from this. It does give light to buildable medium coverage. I wont repurchase this. It breaks my heart but unfortunately there’s no shade for me. I’m in between the 01 and 02. I was planning to mix the two but I think it’s impossible since it’s water based and sets quickly. It oxidizes on me turning to orange. It’s so easy for me to find a good shade from korean brands. I guess I have to stick with them for face products. Old review here

The Face Shop Lovely Me:Ex Design My Eyebrow

Bought this twice. This is definitely one of the best brow pencils in my opinion. It has triangular shape to help you draw and fill in sparse areas. It did not make my brows look drawn. It’s natural looking perfect for everyday use. The Face Shop has monthly promos. There are times that this item is on buy 1 take 1 promo. I will repurchase this once I’m done with my two pencils from other brands. Old review here

The Face Shop Lovely Me:Ex Stick ConcealerI love using it on my undereye as it instantly brightens the area. It can be cakey though but it wont be a problem if you’ll use the right amount. It’s not oily and long lasting. I noticed its fragrance. It’s like lemon fresh scent. I’m exploring other brands so I wont repurchase this. Old review here

Finally, my bag has space again….. space for what? Maybe for new products. Excuses excuses. I’ll definitely visit a department store soon. I hope my wallet will allow me to have a little haul.😅

July 2016 Haul

I’m back with a small haul. It’s not as “bongga” compared to my other hauls. I changed my shopping behavior and it’s effective. I only buy things that I need. I replenish products when they’re about to run out. I guess my makeup collection wont grow and I’m fine with that.😅

Skin Care

Skinlite Makeup Cleansing Tissues
I bought boxes of this. It’s only 89 pesos for 30 sheets. I prefer this now because EH Every Month Cleansing Tissues are always unavailable in-stores near at our place.

Etude House face masks
These were gifts from my sister. Again, I’m spoiled. Haha. Pearl, Royal Jelly and Tea Tree cost 58 pesos each while Snail is at 78 pesos. We’ll use them once a week.

Klairs Supple Preparation Toner
Wishtrend emailed me again last month for a review opportunity. They want me to start off with their best seller, Klairs toner. I’m using it now for almost a week. So far so good. I’m still observing if there will be any harsh reactions. I’ll do a full review after 2 weeks.

Dr. Color Effect Red Serum
All my Wishtrend packages include a sample of Red Serum, one of their best sellers too. I’m planning to have a first impression post on this. I think the samples I got will be good for 3 weeks.

Makeup

Essence 16h Long Lasting Makeup
I was interested to get this because members of a makeup group on Facebook love this. You should try this if you’re looking for oil-free and cruelty brand. I got it for 378 pesos in SM Department Store. I posted my full review already. Check it out.

Maybelline Clear Smooth All in One Powder Foundation
I’ve been using this for 5 years now. I’m a full coverage and matte freak. This powder sets my makeup and gives additional coverage. It has color that helps to lighten a dark foundation on me. If a face makeup is a little darker on you, use a light powder to adjust everything.

Maybelline Fit Me Concealer
I wanted to try this since last year. I’ve watched many tutorials on Youtube using this as concealer and highlighter. Do you know how hard it is that a raved product isnt available in your country and it’s used by your favorite gurus? I’m still in search for #20 though. Please inform me if you know a branch with that shade. I need to test it for dark spots.

Review: Essence Stay All Day 16h Long-Lasting Makeup

Whew! That’s a long name.😅 I’ve read good things about this foundation in TMUR PH on Facebook. Most commenters have oily skin. I thought I would like it too. So I bought one last week in 10 Soft Beige. Papatagalin pa ba?😅

Description:

Ingredients:
Aqua (Water), Cyclopentasiloxane, Butylene Glycol, Cyclohexasiloxane, Bis-peg/ppg-14/14 Dimethicone, Sodium Chloride, Boron Nitride, Sodium Potassium Aluminum Silicate, Mica, Caprylyl Glycol, Disteardimonium Hectorite, Triethoxycaprylylsilane, Propylene Carbonate, Pentaerythrityl Tetra-di-t-butyl Hydroxyhydrocinnamate, Silica, Parfum (Fragrance), Alpha-isomethyl Ionone, Benzyl Salicylate, Citronellol, Coumarin, Limonene, Linalool, Ci 77491, Ci 77492, Ci 77499 (Iron Oxides), Ci 77891 (Titanium Dioxide)

Pros:
-Pump-type packaging
-Available locally in department stores
-Affordable, 375 pesos (approx $7)
-Oil-free
-Can cover dark circles
-It does feel light on the skin
-Can cover mild redness and mild hyperpigmentation
-No breakouts

Cons:
-Light coverage
-Limited shades. Only 3 shades are available in the Philippines. Although it comes in 4 shades in other countries, it’s still very limited
-Accentuates my huge pores.
-I dont like the scent. It reminds me of perfumes for a lady in her 40s.

Neutral:
-Oxidizes on me. Not sure if it’s because I’m acidic and have oily skin or it’s the product’s formula

Using it alone slightly covered my mole. Compared to mixing with another foundation.

I recommend it to those who don’t need much coverage and if you want lightweight foundation. It looks like a salmon color to me which is good for covering dark circles. It feels light like I’m not wearing anything. I wouldn’t recommend it if you have fairer skin.

I got 10 Soft Beige and it’s dark for me. I have fair skin with warm/yellow undertone. It turns darker after a few hours. I still want to use it. I mix it with Ever Bilena’s foundation to adjust the shade and minimize oxidizing. I finally found a purpose for that. Haha! My powder helps to adjust the color too.

Water-based makeup is great for my oily skin because it stays longer. Less chance of breakouts too. But all of them turns dark after. I’m so confused. I’ve never experienced that when I use bb cream and oil-based makeup. It accentuates my pores. That’s my other problem with water-base.

Lesson learned:
Swatch the product first then come back in an hour or so and check if it oxidized. Just like buying perfume if a scent changes after a few hours.

Review: Essence Superfine Eyeliner Pen

Good evening readers. Tonight’s quick review is about my first product from Essence and my second eyeliner pen. I bought this at a department store. I was looking for an affordable eyeliner pen and I thought this one fits that category.

Description:
The all-rounder amongst eyeliners! the super fine eyeliner pen is riding on the trend-waves straight out of the usa and asia! this extremely long-lasting precision eyeliner has a particularly slim felt-tip applicator ideal for creating fine, subtle eyeliner looks as well as extravagant and dramatic styles.

Ingredients
Aqua (water), Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Polyurethane-35, Styrene/acrylates Copolymer, Polyglyceryl-2 Caprate, Methylpropanediol, Glycerin, Butylene Glycol, Tri-c12-13 Alkyl Citrate, Caprylyl Glycol, Panthenol, Tocopherol, Helianthus Annuus (sunflower) Seed Oil, Stearic Acid, Palmitic Acid, Phenylpropanol, Tetrasodium Glutamate Diacetate, Citric Acid, Sodium Dehydroacetate, Ci 77266 (black 2).

Pros:
– Very affordable. I got this for Php 209 only.
– Available locally. You can get this at department stores.
– Beginners can practice applying eyeliner using this since it’s affordable
– No parabens

Cons:
– Dry and not pigmented. Im not sure if I got a bad one. The stocks for this eyeliner are unsealed. I tested this stock before I bought it and it was pigmented. I dont know what happened.
– Its tip didnt help me to have precise application. My lids didnt like its texture.

I dont want this to go to waste even if it’s just worth 209 pesos. I dip this in my liquid liner’s container and it works fine. It feels like Im back in the old times. Hahaha but in a girly way. 😉

Im disappointed with this product. Im hoping I just got a bad stock. You can still give this a try and see for yourself.  My next targets are the liners from Maybelline, Nichido and Shawill. They were recommended by my fb friends. 🙂
