Review + Swatches: Detail Make Over BB Cream in Tan

I went to the beach last month. I got tan which means I have to adjust the shade of my makeup. My current foundation works for me and doesn’t irritate my skin. I don’t want to waste it. I decided to look for a dark shade to mix with it. I browsed BeautyMNL and looked for liquid makeup under 300 pesos. Yes, I’m a cheapskate when it comes to makeup. 😉 Detail Make Over was on sale there but I needed it on the same day. I went to a department store and luckily, their BB cream was discounted there too!

Description:
Provides light to medium coverage with a fresh finish; camouflages fine lines, pores, and blemishes; primes skin for flawless makeup application; helps create an even, silky veil over skin; moisturizes and brightens to enhance skin tone.

This BB cream looks thick but will give light coverage once blended. I tried applying it with my fingers and with a brush. Both had the same result. Its light coverage will smoothen out your complexion. Just like a “second skin”. I can get the right shade when I add this in my makeup routine. It doesn’t interfere with my foundation’s coverage. This has subtle dewy finish alone which compliments my semi-matte foundation. I have combination skin right now and the flaking isn’t as visible when I started adding this.

It has a light powder scent. I always prefer fragrance-free but luckily this doesn’t irritate my skin. I’m neutral about the coverage, that’s not my main concern right now. I’m glad that I got it on sale for 199 pesos only. It’s 30ml so that’s going to last a long time.  It can be used for 24 months after opening

The rating for this on BeautyMNL is only 3 stars because it made the users’ skin look so oily. That being said, it’s definitely for dry skin and for cool weather/air-conditioned place. This is a basic product to improve skin’s appearance. This will do if you don’t have to cover blemishes. To lessen the oiliness, I suggest blotting it with tissue before setting with powder. Cream and liquid makeup are usually oil-based unless stated by the brand. Blotting will be needed throughout the day.

This is just my second time to use a local brand this year. Wow, I’m really good at doing my 2016 New Year’s Resolution, huh? 😅 I was looking for something that could replace my ride or die powder foundation, Maybelline Clear Smooth All in One Foundation. Last month, BeautyMNL got in touch with me to try their shop. I found out about Detail a.k.a. Detail Make Over on their website. I’m glad I did. Read the rest of this post to find out.😉 P.S. Pros:
-Very affordable, 10 grams for only 199 pesos ($4)
– Nice packaging, has mirror and compartment for the sponge
-Few ingredients
-Fragrance free
-Fair matches my skin tone really well
-Little goes a long way
-Helps to minimize pores, not completely but it helps.
-Completely matte and has slight airbrush finish
-Feels light on the skin
-Has good oil control. That’s surprising because I have extremely oily skin.

Cons:
-Can be chalky if applied too much
-Can settle in creases

I am surprised that this amazing product is 199 pesos only. You’ll get 10 grams compared to other powders. Its packaging has a compartment for the applicator. It has few ingredients so there’s less chance of irritation. I only need to swipe the sponge on the powder a few times to completely cover my entire face. This does not give coverage but it’s good for setting makeup. You can use this alone and you’re good to go. Lucky you, you have clear skin.😀 I noticed that it can help to minimize pores. Again, not completely but the change in their size is noticeable.

I love this mineral pressed powder because it’s lightweight on the skin. It’s like I’m not wearing anything. I’m also surprised it has good oil control. I have extremely oily and sweaty skin. I would normally blot my face every 30 minutes but not with this powder. I only blot every 2 hours, max.😍

I highly recommend it for oily skin! This is matte and has slight airbrush finish. If you still want to try it and you have dry skin, make sure you moisturize properly first. Apply it using a brush instead of the sponge. For dry to normal skin, you might want to consider applying highlighter. Or you can wait for your skin to oil up just like my skin to still get your “natural hightlight”. We don’t want to look flat.😉

Now the real question is… did this beat my ride or die Maybelline Powder Foundation? I have to say yes!!

Loreal Refreshing Micellar Water

 Micellar water became a huge hit last year and many brands are releasing their own version. Loreal just released one here. I received a newletter from them telling me this was on sale. I knew I had to get it. Can’t say no to discounts. This is my first skin care product from Loreal. It only has 8 ingredients. It’ll be a good makeup remover especially if you’re a minimalist like me. Maybelline ColorSensational Matte in Clay Crush

Now this is THE trend for lipstick addicts. If you want brown shades for a drugstore price, go for Maybelline’s Creamy Matte Brown line. Yes, they are perfect! I know the bestselling colors are quite difficult to find in-stores. Good thing all shades; Nude Embrace, Daringly Nude, Clay Crush, Nude Nuance & Burgundy Blush are available on their website.

This pimple cream is one of the bestsellers. Sooper Beaute is a local brand. I found out about them on Instagram. I’m seeing many positive feedbacks after using their products. I’ve been stessed lately and it’s automatic for me to get breakouts. I’m using this cream since the day I got the package. I’m liking it so far. This menthol balm received high ratings from reviewers. It has a relaxing and soothing scent. I got the 4g tin to test it first. We all know menthol balms are pinoys’ savior when we get sick. When this came out, it was all over social media. I watched some before and after videos to see its purpose.I was really amazed on how quick you’ll see its effect. I knew I had to see it for myself.
